Some people are just nice! They don’t seek to exploit others or try to use them as a step ladder on what they perceive to be a path of success (that usually fails spectacularly), they’re just nice!

A colleague of mine brought this back from Brazil for me today after a visit to his family from whom he is separated by half a world. From what I gather this is pretty upmarket stuff im South America.

Now, putting to one side for a minute the act of a man giving another man soap, this colleague of mine is probably the hardest-working, most quiet, and most intelligent soul I’ve had the good fortune to meet.

This guy has no family here and I’m not sure he has relationship to go home to like many of us do. He’s probably got so much going on in his head due to work related stress that few of us would understand, but he still managed to take time out of his holiday to purchase a gift to repay the rather trivial favours I’ve done for him that took little time and limited brain power.

Some people really are just nice!

I found out late last night that one of the people I admire most in life is in serious trouble with his health. He doesn’t know it, but he has had an enormous and extremely positive influence on me starting in 2009. 15 years gone in the blink of an eye where I’ve achieved many things and met many people I am fortunate to call good friends that would not have happened otherwise.

On a related matter, after years of trying to manufacture the perfect Sunday roast, week in, week out, I reckon I finally nailed it, right down to the red wine jus. (The leftovers of which I labelled ‘Red Wine Jus-4-2 😊). This particular mate would have loved it and the fact it was cooked with love for the people that matter most.

I’m praying for my mate because of the family that he loves more than life itself., and beacuse quite frankly, I’ve had enough of losing friends I admire.

I’d encorage anyone to be grateful for even the smallest achievments and the most casual of friends because it comes and goes so briefly. I am not at the top of the food chain by any stretch, but i’ve done OK and I’m VERY thankful for it. The fact I can cook a roast for those I love and enjoy a red wine on Sundays is something to be exceptionally appreciative of.

Just prepping today’s roast from GE Mallan Bulk Meats. They’ve been around longer than I can remember (which is getting long) and their quality and prices are outstanding.

The owner even gave me the twine I needed to truss this sucker up! How good is that for customer service? You don’t get that from the big two.
