LIFE UPDATE: 6 weeks ago, I went to see my GP because I didn't feel right, so I figured I needed a blood test. My GP went into paranoia mode & ordered quite a few tests & scans (which I thought was OTT but I have had a run in with the big C in the past so I understood why). A scan revealed that I had a large cyst growing in my right lung & the only treatment is to remove the middle lobe.

 I met my surgeon on 1st June & he recommended that the surgery happens ASAP. So tomorrow is the day (which is coincidentally my birthday 😳). Unfortunately, this has coincided with one of my busiest times of the year. So I've had to ask my incredible celebrant mates to cover 10 ceremonies that I will miss while I'm recuperating & I'm overwhelmed by how easy it was to find replacements.  Honestly, you are all angels 😇 .

Post surgery I will find out if the cyst is benign or not. If it's benign that's ok because it's taking up too much space so it has to go as it will compromise my health in the future. If it's malignant, that's ok too as my specialist believes the cyst hasn't grown outside of my middle lobe, so once I have the lobectomy, I shouldn't need any further treatment 🤞. So let's just say, either way, it's a win win.

After some time in hospital, I'm going to lay on the couch for a few weeks, read, nap & let my body adjust to having 2/3rds of a lung (which it can do easily).  I'll be a little slower on emails & you probably won't see much of me here for a while.  My friends are asking me how I feel... gobsmacked (as I'm a lifetime nonsmoker) but also incredibly bloody lucky

Before I disappear, I want to say this: when your body talks, listen. Get things checked out. And if you're lucky enough to have a GP like my fantastic Dr Jane hold onto them tightly. Her vigilance has probably saved my life. 

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, checked in, and offered support. It means more than you know.  TBH I just want to stupid thing cut out of me fast so I can get back to what I do best: marrying legendary couples. See you on the other side ❤️

7 years later, they made it official 🤍

On 22.05.26, & decided to elope on their 7-year anniversary, with their toes in the sand at gorgeous Main Beach.

But the wild 50km winds and big seas had other plans. Thankfully, offered the perfect backup—a beautiful, wind-protected park right by the beach where they’d planned to marry. And honestly? It couldn’t have been more perfect.

After saying “I do”, the newlyweds headed down to the beach for photos (swipe left to see the magic), before celebrating later with a much bigger crowd

Their ceremony was intimate and incredibly special—just 16 of their closest family members, including their gorgeous daughter Vera, who very nearly stole the show. With four generations of family watching on, there were tears, laughter, and so much love as these two exchanged their own beautiful vows, surrounded by lush greenery & a perfect, chilled vibe. I guess it's a reminder that sometimes the unexpected changes turn out to be the best part of the story.

A quiet, meaningful “yes” on their 7-year anniversary — Ash & Ben, this is exactly how it was always meant to be .
