We went to Tasmania and designed this amazing event for Family Business Association

For the Family Business Association Long Lunch princeswharf1 , we wanted guests to feel as though they had stepped into a landscape rather than a venue.

A place where conversation flowed beneath suspended gardens, surrounded by layers of living greenery and natural textures.

The florals weren’t confined to the table.

They stretched overhead, framed sightlines, softened the industrial architecture and transformed a vast warehouse space into something intimate and welcoming.

The result was a long lunch that felt grounded, abundant and deeply connected to nature, a fitting backdrop for meaningful conversations between generations of family business leaders.

From concept to production ✨

One of my favourite parts of event design is taking an abstract idea and turning it into something guests can physically experience.

For this conference stage, we started with a simple creative direction: The Next Chapter.

Rather than building a traditional stage set, we imagined a giant illustrated library brought to life. A space where books became ideas, shelves represented knowledge, and every prop contributed to the story.

What began as a sketch evolved into a full-scale stage environment, complete with oversized bookshelves, a grandfather clock, ladder, furniture and custom messaging woven throughout the set.

The beauty of conference design is that it doesn’t have to be boring. Even in a corporate environment, storytelling can create a stronger emotional connection, reinforce key themes and make content more memorable.

This is the process we love most: transforming ideas into environments.

Because great events don’t start with furniture and staging. They start with a story.

This month took us across three states, countless kilometres and more cups of coffee than we’d care to admit.

From site inspections and venue walk-throughs to concept development and creative planning, May was about laying the foundations for the experiences still to come and building some we have been planning for months.

Some of the projects are still under wraps, but we can already tell they’re going to be special.

Because while event days may last a few hours, the magic begins months earlier, in conversations, sketches, supplier meetings, site visits and countless creative decisions.

A reminder that behind every event is a team quietly building something extraordinary.

Here’s to another month of creating beauty, facilitating connection and bringing big ideas to life.
