The Runaway Strings
Blackwood
4Jun26 Album

Release Information

The Runaway Strings are proud to announce the release of their debut album ‘Blackwood’, an intimate yet raucous collection of songs encompassing country, bluegrass and traditional folk. Recorded live, acoustic and entirely in one day, ‘Blackwood’ captures a band embracing immediacy, honesty and the raw chemistry of musicians playing together in a room. Named after the forest and bushland surroundings where the album was recorded, ‘Blackwood’ is a record rooted in authenticity.

Across the album, expert musicianship meets sharp storytelling and an unmistakably human perspective. Each song stands as its own self-contained story, populated by vivid characters (some real, some not so much) navigating many of life’s strange yet familiar emotions, frustrations and absurdities.

From the sarcastic shift worker counting the minutes in “Living the Dream,” to the bitter pub musician battling an indifferent crowd in “Give Up, Don’t Try,” to the painfully modern struggle of promoting anything beneath the gaze of tech giants in “Come On Feel The Algorithm,” ‘Blackwood’ exposes humour, heart and truth in equal measure.

Formed in 2023 during a chance encounter on Halloween, The Runaway Strings came together through coincidence and shared musical instinct. Core members Peter and Jiah (husband and wife) had already spent years playing music together when a spontaneous front-porch banjo session led to the meeting of third member Lionel, turning a costumed Halloween night into the band’s current incarnation.

‘Blackwood’ was recorded at Greenhills Sound studio in Blackwood, VIC with Bobby Bravington. It was produced by Peter Harrison, with mixing and engineering by Bobby, with mastering by Nao Anzai.

the dying gasp of COVID music. finally unleashed, only to dawdle a few steps before laying down for a nap.

during COVID, locked up like everyone else but lucky enough to have a few instruments at home, ben james started recording songs alone. Around the same time, his brother, sister-in-law, and nephew were holding weekly Friday night kitchen parties. One week, ben sent through a track he’d been working on. His nephew loved it, and soon there was a standing request: one new song every Friday night.

So he did — week after week, for about three months.

The resulting recordings were never really intended for release. More like little dispatches from isolation. Half-finished thoughts, experiments, homespun recordings and late-night sketches made because there wasn’t much else to do. Somehow they survived long enough to stumble into the streamosphere.

The LP collects these recordings together for the first time.

FOR FANS OF:
lo-fi, home-recorded, psych’n'soul, fuzz, funk , rock’n'roll, oddball folk & tape hiss.

All The Deceased Whisper Now:
New album by D.S Gibson

I felt a freedom for the first time in my life. The last of my family deceased. Alone. Unburdened. Pure.
The echo’s of their complexities and dysfunction dispersing.
The evening set in. The refuge of room against the winters incursion.
I sat down at the piano. My fingers ventured. My voice reached for the moment.
Raw and live. 3 takes and pick the best one. They came easily. A natural flow.
A nascent awareness that for the first time in my life my voice, my playing, my expression, my being was unburdened. Free.
By the early hours it was done. The next day I mixed the tracks reaching through fatigue but feeling an inner calm. A residence in a centred self I had betrayed for too many years.
All The Deceased Whisper Now.

LXRP
29May26 album

Release Information

Formed in mid-2024, LXRP built their sound around a shared love of the Sydney post-punk scene of the 2010s (Orion, Low Life, S*x Tourists), the classic chorus-pedal tones of Australian post-punk, and the dancier, pop-minded moments of New Order and The Cure. Their debut, self-titled album – nine tracks, just under 40 minutes – moves between the heavy and the cold, the dancefloor and the quietly devastating. Jardany handles all drum programming via a Polyend tracker, a decision made from the outset that gives the band's rhythms their distinctive mechanical warmth. The album also features 'Artifacting' – the band's debut single from May 2025, which became an early crowd favourite for its cowbell-led beat and infectious guitar lick – and 'Maintenance', released February 2026.

Gary Hubber
A Dangling Thread
29May26 album

Release Information

Some albums try to tie everything together.
This one doesn’t.
A Dangling Thread is about the unfinished nature of life — the loose ends, the unanswered questions, the moments that don’t quite resolve the way we expect them to. It’s about recognising that uncertainty isn’t something to avoid, but something we live inside every day.
The title comes from a line in Hear It From You — “my future’s uncertain, a dangling thread.” That idea runs through the entire record. Life doesn’t arrive neatly packaged. It unfolds gradually, sometimes clearly, sometimes not.
Rather than trying to force answers, these songs choose to stay in motion.
Running from the Light opens the album by turning away from the idea of an ending and leaning into experience instead. People Are Strange widens the lens, celebrating the quirks and differences that make the world feel alive. From there, the album moves through love, uncertainty, risk, gratitude and self-reflection — sometimes grounded, sometimes restless, always searching.
There are moments of connection (I Break Free), moments of doubt (Crazing On You), and moments of tension in between (I’m Your Prisoner). There are songs that look outward, and songs that turn inward. None of them claim to have the answers.
What they share is a belief that life is worth engaging with — fully, honestly, and without waiting for everything to make perfect sense.
If New Tricks was about looking back, A Dangling Thread is about moving forward — even when the path isn’t completely clear.
The thread may be loose.
But it’s still holding

Goldthrone
Eternal Now
29May26 album

Release Information

Eternal Now is an album centred around presence.
Every fear of the future and every attachment to the past pulls us away from the only thing
that’s ever truly real: this moment.

The album was written as a reminder to be here while life is happening instead of waiting
for meaning to arrive later.

Across its songs, Eternal Now explores growth, loss, love, uncertainty, and acceptance. Each
track acts as a snapshot of human experience, tied together by a single idea: the present
moment is all we ever have.

Balancing heavy instrumentation with introspective lyricism, the album moves between
aggression, atmosphere, and vulnerability while staying grounded in emotional honesty
