💛 When can palliative care help?
5 days to go until National Palliative Care Week 2026.
As part of our countdown to , we’re exploring what palliative care really is - and why it matters.
Palliative care can help at any stage of a life-limiting illness - not just at the end of life.
Palliative care can be beneficial from the time of diagnosis, helping people manage pain and symptoms so they can live as well as possible, for as long as possible. It can be provided alongside treatments like chemotherapy or radiation, or when other treatments have ended.
Every person’s experience is different. Some people access palliative care at different stages, while others have ongoing support as their needs change.
Accessing palliative care early can also help people plan ahead - creating space to talk about what matters most, including their values, beliefs and goals for care.
When the time comes, palliative care ensures comfort, dignity, and support. It also continues to support families and carers through grief and bereavement.
Follow along as we count down to and be part of the conversation.
