Introducing Shanita Vice 🎧

Kate McAnergney, aka Shanita Vice, began her DJ journey as part of the 1990s NZ rave scene. As DJ K8 she mixed ambience and electronica in many a chill-out zone, as well as hosting a weekly show on student radio for 3 years. After moving to Australia in 1999, life took its twists and turns and Kate has been a yoga teacher for over 20 years now.

In 2019 Kate began dreaming of getting back into DJing, so she bought turntables, resurrected her long-treasured collection of vinyl records and started working on her rusty beat-mixing skills just in time for COVID!

As Shanita Vice, Kate now plays regular vinyl DJ sets around Geelong and the Surfcoast. She prefers not to limit herself to one or two genres and instead enjoys playing an eclectic mix of music that lifts spirits - getting people’s hearts smiling and toes tapping - whether that be schmoozy soul and yacht rock, lush 70s disco, 80s funk, boogie, new wave and hip hop or 90s house classics.

Shanita Vice will be spinning 7s at Limeburners Saturday Social later this month, to help us celebrate the launch of our spring/summer Art Showcase.

Join us on Saturday 16 November. Shanita on the decks from 2-5pm, bringing us the atmosphere to match our "afternoon party" mood! 🥂
