What is NERD? 🧐
The VEG New ER Doctor (NERD) Program is specifically designed to transform recent graduates into exceptional, confident VEG Emergency Doctors.
This 6-month structured mentorship program provides an immersive emergency medicine experience, allowing participants to transition into full-time ER doctors at VEG. If you're passionate about emergency medicine and eager to build your skills in surgery, endoscopy, exotics, and customer-focused care in an open-concept hospital, this program is for you!
This is a mentorship program, not an internship! You'll never go it alone in the ER, receiving ongoing guidance and 1:1 feedback from experienced VEG doctors throughout the program.
During the program, you'll gain hands-on experience alongside leading emergency clinicians and specialists while attending fully funded continuing education in:
🔪 Small animal emergency surgery
🩺 Small animal critical care lab
🖥️ Basics of abdominal ultrasound
🫀 Abdominal, thoracic, and cardiac point-of-care ultrasound
📹 Flexible GI endoscopy
🦜 Exotic companion animals in the ER
❤️ RECOVER ALS and BLS Rescuer CPR certification
