I've been running Beers With Mates for almost 5 years now.

That's 5 years of creating a space for people to meet at least once a month at a local pub or brewery.

And I've decided it's time to spread my wings a little and invite others to join in the running of the group.

Over the last 5 years I've met so many great people with such a broad range of backgrounds and I'm happy to now call many of them friends.

The group is now at a point where it basically looks after itself in attracting new people through the meetup app and we have a large group of regulars.

It really is the closest thing to running your own pub without all the overheads.

Maybe you've never come along to an event and you've wondered what it's all about.

Maybe you're someone who would prefer to be the organiser rather than the attendee.

If that's you, I'd love to talk about how we can make that happen.

I'm looking for a group of a few key people to share in the hosting of events.

We have a set routine that works but I'm open to new ideas in terms of where events are held and when.

We have over 4000 people in the group who will potentially be open to an invitation to do something they've never tried before.

I just don't have unlimited time to always be there as host.

So, would you like to host at an event at some time over the next 12 months?

Even if it's only once?

All it takes is to be willing to be the person that meets new people when they arrive for the first time to help them feel welcome.

As an added benefit, I'll make sure that all the organisers have a chance to meet regularly.

With other people who are willing to take charge and get things done.

If that sounds like you, let's get started on a plan to make it happen so you can enjoy what I've enjoyed without having to do the hard work of getting it all built and running properly.

What if all you really needed to do was follow the fun?

Not necessarily pleasure.

But what you find enjoyable.

Because it's likely that for something to be enjoyable for a long time, there's some kind of challenge involved.

Many of us have experience with challenges.

Some of them are difficult and not particularly enjoyable.

But when fun and challenge go hand in hand, you find something you're willing to work hard at AND enjoy.

Then because you enjoy the hard work, you keep levelling up and the challenge expands.

Hopefully you also find other people interested in working alongside you at some point as well.

And they add their own unique abilities into the mix.

And on it goes.

I've been running Beers With Mates for almost 4 years now but I still don't think I've properly explained what it is or the benefits that can be enjoyed when you do it well.

Here's a little story that serves as a great reminder of an experience I enjoyed having a beer with a mate in Canada who remains a close friend to this day who was able to support me in some way.

After meeting people each month over the last 4 years or so, I know there are generally a couple of experiences that attendees have been through to make them go looking for events like this.

Being able to meet people with those shared experiences allows you to quickly and easily connect with people, both men and women, and it's been awesome to be able to develop some fantastic friendships over time as a result.
