Recently, Warra Wangkatitya held a graduation ceremony for their Warra Pari program at Woodville Town Hall. Warra Pari means 'language river' and this event was a joyful celebration of a group of learners and their role in helping the Kaurna language flow.

At the heart of Warra Wangkatitya's work is a simple belief: Kaurna warra belongs in everyday life. The language should be heard, spoken and practised in our homes and community spaces, not just on special occasions. And everyone who lives on Kaurna Yarta should have the opportunity to learn and speak it.

This Sunday, we invite you to be a part of the journey.

Join us at Findon Community Centre for an Intro to Kaurna Language Immersion. Everyone is welcome - come along to hear from the panel and experience their approach to language transfer firsthand.

If you’re aged 60+ or an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person aged 50+ and live in the City of Charles Sturt, we’d love to hear what ageing well looks like for you and what helps you feel connected and supported in your community.

The survey takes around 10 minutes and your feedback will help shape a better understanding of what matters to our community as we age.

Homelessness is not always visible. It can include sleeping rough, couch surfing, staying in temporary accommodation, or living in unsafe or unstable housing.

This Homelessness Week, we are standing with our community to raise awareness and highlight the supports available locally.

If you or someone you know is doing it tough, you are not alone.

Our Local Homelessness Services information connects people to practical support including:

• Housing and crisis accommodation
• Food relief and financial assistance
• Showers, laundry and basic needs services
• Mental health and wellbeing support
• Family and domestic violence services

Our libraries and community centres are warm, welcoming spaces where people can take a break, connect with others, access free Wi-Fi and computers, and get help finding support services.

🎉 Congratulations to Loretta, our English Language & Literacy teacher, who was recently recognised for 5 years of volunteering with the City of Charles Sturt. Her patience and dedication have helped so many community members to develop and build confidence in their English language skills. Thank you, Loretta! 👏📚

Our English Language & Literacy classes are back for Term 3, starting Tuesday 4th August.

Each class runs weekly on Tuesdays during the School Term:

🗣️ Conversation Class (Elementary–Intermediate Level): 9:30am–10:30am
✍️ Reading & Writing (Intermediate Level): 10:30am–12:00pm
✍️ Reading & Writing (Pre-Beginners/Beginners Level): 12:30pm–2:00pm
