I have always loved this style of " ginger jar", this is one of a pair that sits on my bedroom dresser. I must have had these for almost 4 decades now, ah well never too late to use tgem as painting inspo😄

Interesting that I love to work on really small compositions, usually 14 cm x14 cm.
But equally enjoy exploring some much bigger projects, poster size.

My lifelong career being a caterer taught me to work fast, push through, achieve a finished product quickly. So now with these larger pieces which take so much more time, I'm almost having to rewire my brain:
Increments.
Walk away, it doesn't have to be fully finished.
Patience (definitely not my natural trait😆).
That said, pastel, and equally watercolour, are both quick mediums to work with...😅

These Rainbow Lorikeets are regular visitors here in our garden, noisily and exuberantly feasting on the palm tree berries.

A different but strangely satisfying technique in creating the tropical background, using small sponges and pastel powder.

Good Morning🌞..from a quiet and sunny bedroom corner...
Continuing to enjoy this somewhat delicate and tricky, but very satisfying " gilding" process. This time with a small pastel composition, slightly textured so perhaps a grainy outcome.(Could of course be lack of technique and improvising with gear available in my studio🤭, much to learn here!!)
But definitely enjoying the ride...

Two incidental " finds" this week:
One, this dear little wooden photo frame and two, craft gold leaf!

Scarlet Robin, watercolour. 10 cm x 15 cm.

Always wanted to depict a Robin, my Dad's chilhood nickname (owing to his rosy red cheeks in the British wintertime, my Granny's pet name☺️). He chose to use it as his name throighout his life, not Anthony as he was christened...

This ones for you then, Dad❤️
