Well three days of conference is completed, all went smoothly. I had a great team assisting to make it a very professional time, apart from the usual AV presentations we were streaming live via zoom over the three days as well as recording the conference with content and camera vision side by side. With agenda motions being voted on using a voting system so we had a true recorded record. We had slido polls for the audience as well at certain times.
BCEC was the venue and my vision Tech Trev and my audio sound engineer Ken won the Nurses over with their quality of service and nothing is a problem attitude. We are returning again next year to do it all again with the great Nurses and Midwife’s of the QNMU.

Even though I am not now running my own events, I am keeping my hand in the game working at the State Library of Queensland as well as The Brisbane Convention Entertainment Centre. Places where I can work with AV colleagues I know and respect. It’s nice to still learn new things and skills every day.

Even thought I have basically shut the doors after the April fire, I could not resist buying a couple of QSC K10 speakers as I still had a brand new QSC 16 touch mixer at home. It was bugging me not having some speakers to play with 😆

On Tuesday morning @ 0700 I received the news that the shed that I shared some space with A Noble Event was in flames and sadly there was a loss of life as the fire crew battled to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire is being investigated but even so the aftermath has been huge. Event Staging Management basically lost everything as far as gear is concerned and what good is an AV event company without gear! A Noble Event may like a phoenix be reborn from the ashes but it will be hard for Tony and his crew. Marty from M3 Media who like me lost all he had is battling to rebuild basically from scratch and I wish him all the best as he is a top guy and did not deserve this.
I am proud of what I accomplished over the last 18 years, I worked with some wonderful clients on their events and always had fun doing it. Sadly the effects on the business due to two years of Covid and the recent fire has closed the door on ESM and I am scaling down as my heart is no longer in it. Thanks for the phone calls and well wishes from colleagues and friends, I will see you around!

A lot of people who have business as they get older think about an exit strategy, sometimes the choice is taken out of your hands. A fire is a good example of a choice being made for you.
