Duh! It’s Nay-duh! 😂
FACT. My name isn’t “normal”
FACT. I am VERY aware that at first glance, saying “Nadia” is a safe bet (but not correct)
FACT. That’s why my business name uses my initials. It’s WAY easier to remember.
BUT! If you want to correctly pronounce my name…. Duh! It’s Nay-Duh! 😅
Did you know that for my wedding, my MC and amazing friend Alison Coombs practiced ALL the European names of the members of my family for WEEKS before the day? She used to walk past me in the halls at school (when we were both teaching) and shout the names of my family members at me (correctly) between recess and lunch breaks. 😂
How? I wrote them phonetically OR gave her rhymes and hacks for remembering the pronunciation.
My brilliant celebrant for my wedding Melodie’s awesome ceremonies was FULLY aware of the nuances of our culture and understood the importance of correct pronunciation.
It’s for these reasons that you will NEVER hear me mispronounce a name during an event! A name is just as important as the person who owns it, so why wouldn’t I go to the effort to learn how to say it properly? 🤩
