Wendy and Greg Gilbert were the Principal Teachers of S’Coolhouse Rock and Swing located in both Maffra, Eastern Victoria and Echuca, Northern Victoria. They are both qualified teachers with many years of experience between them in the classroom. They began their dance partnership in Sale in 1997 and quickly began competing. They were Wintersun and Victorian Rock & Roll Dance Association title hol
ders over their six years of competition dancing. Wendy and Greg began dance teaching in 1998 and before long had regular weekly classes in both Heyfield and Maffra in country Victoria. In 2002 they ventured to Perth, WA, where they ran regular dances, and also taught Rock & Roll and Swing classes four nights a week. During their time in Perth they were part of a corporate performance group, ran many demonstrations, gave private lessons and were employed as choreographers and teachers for a number of private and professional events. Wendy and Greg are now enjoying retirement, and have personally trained teachers running the Echuca classes. They have also taught workshops all over Australia, including Qld, NSW, Vic (country and metro), Western Australia and Tasmania. Their love of all styles of dance is infectious. Dave and Vicki had taught in Echuca since 2008, including 12 months intensive cadetship under Wendy and Greg, and over that time have conducted workshops at the Return To Rock Festival in Melbourne Vic, in Benalla Vic, in Perth WA, and several at the Barham and Mulwala, NSW Rock and Roll Festivals as well as in Launceston, Tas. Although new to the competition side of dance, Dave and Jo (who now teaches in Echuca with Dave) have competed in the Victorian Rock and Roll Dance Association’s championships, and have been place getters each time, dancing in the teams events and individual events, also place getters in the inaugural Melbourne Open Championships and Cooly Rocks dance comp. They all love dancing and enjoy teaching others, hopefully, to fall in love with the (dance) experience.
