Last week we welcomed some of our volunteers to be filmed and tell us their Field Days adventures, as part of the Dowerin Machinery Field Days 60 year celebrations. What an iconic event they have helped create!

Some fantastic pics of them in action.

We look forward to sharing the video with you soon.

A very big thank you to all our volunteers who have signed up again! It's going to be awesome!

We do have a few remaining jobs to fill.

Are you a foodie? Chef, Don Hancey will be cooking up a storm in the new Euroz Hartleys Pavillion and needs 2 workers to assist him for each day. The menu is excellent!

And we need some tech savvy crew to assist in out newly built ticket sheds to process Gate Sales.

So here are some excellent reasons as to why you should join our team.

Volunteering is not just about giving back to your community; it's an incredible opportunity to grow, learn, and make a positive impact.

1️. Build Friendships and Connections: Volunteering brings people together from all walks of life. You'll have the chance to meet like-minded individuals, forge new friendships, and create lasting connections.

2. Develop Skills and Experience: Volunteering offers a unique platform to develop new skills and gain valuable experience. Whether it's leadership, communication, or problem-solving, you'll enhance your abilities and broaden your horizons.

3. Try New Things: Stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things is an exciting part of volunteering. You'll have the chance to explore different roles and activities that you may have never considered before.

4. Add It to Your Resume: Volunteering is a fantastic addition to your resume. It showcases your dedication, commitment, and willingness to contribute to society. Employers value individuals who actively engage in their communities.

5. Helps Build Resilience and Resourcefulness: Volunteering often presents challenges and opportunities to problem-solve. It helps build resilience, adaptability, and resourcefulness, which are valuable qualities in all aspects of life.

6. It Makes You Feel Good: The joy and fulfilment that come from helping others are unparalleled. Volunteering boosts your mood, increases your sense of purpose, and leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

Our core values guide our decisions and underpin the activities we undertake toward achieving our mission.

Of course, our main platform is the . But it’s also important we grow our external support through expert advice, sponsorships and new initiatives such as the “Bringing Dowerin downtown Lunch”.

This enables us to get the expertise we need and don’t have through our own internal resources, attracts new funding streams and markets what we do and the industry in a positive way, and all to help community.

The Bringing Dowerin downtown Lunch is confirmed for Tuesday 29 August. More details to come...

Building Volunteers!

There’s no better way to raise money for your community and learn new skills than by becoming a Dowerin Machinery Field Days volunteer!

We are expanding our paid volunteer workforce to fill a variety of roles across the event site from operations to customer service.

We are also expanding our radius beyond the 100km from Dowerin to be more inclusive of the Central Wheatbelt.

The old Ram Shed has been converted to our new Euroz Hartleys Pavilion which will house WA Produce, Wineries and Distillery exhibitors.

Thankyou to Jamie Newton and Phil Gerrard for the fantastic work you have both done to modernise and give the shed a new fresh look.

With this being a new venue, we are looking for a volunteer to Marshal this area so if you have a love of food and wine, please contact Wendy Flavel on 96311021 for a chat.

Also as part of our entertainment in the Euroz Hartleys Pavilion we will be hosting Don Hancey, WA's Food Ambassador to showcase WA's produce. He knows food production has a story and his mission is to tell it.

Last week we met with two of our long standing Gate Marshals, Greg Miller and Richard Waugh who kindly modelled our new Marshal jackets which is part of our rebranding.
This year Greg and Richard will be looking for some tech savvy volunteers to assist in the processing of e-tickets at the North and East gates.
If you are interested in volunteering at these venues please contact Wendy Flavel on 0896311021 or [email protected]

This week is National Volunteer Week!

It’s great to recognise the vital support that volunteers provide to their communities.

Our team would like to thank our volunteers for their dedication, time and energy.

Many of you that have attended the Field Days have no doubt visited the “Burger Bar”!

Meet Jamie.

Jamie has been volunteering for more than 30 years and his team of about 30 (all vollies!) have the Burger Bar operations down pat.

Burger Bar Fun Fact: more than 4,000 burgers are consumed over the two days of our event..!!

Don’t miss the profile piece in this week’s Countryman.

We support National Volunteers Week vision for volunteering to be at the heart of Australian communities.

Every year we will review what we do and why and how we do it. If it isn’t broken, we won’t change it, but we will try new things to make sure we maintain our position as one of Australia’s leading agricultural showcases.

That’s why our final core value is “Be Brave”.

To keep our event strong, we have to deliver to industry standards and be across legislative changes and our required responsibilities. And we would never want anyone to get hurt.

That’s why “Safety First” is our second core value.

We behave with care to protect each other and our stakeholders.
