Getting to Know My “Why”
In 2012, my world changed forever. I lost my Dad, when I was just 21.
In the haze of heartbreak, I remember the funeral celebrant. She stood with us, a family who were complete strangers and she brought calm, compassion, and dignity to one of the worst moments of my life. In that instant, a seed was planted. What an incredible gift it must be to walk beside people in their grief, to hold space for their stories, and to offer comfort when words are so hard to find.
I’ve always been fascinated with life and with what comes after we depart. Soul journeys, past lives, finding your village, and the way our stories are all connected.
To me, death and dying, along with finding your soulmate, are two sides of the same coin… both are very powerful moments that shape the very core of who we are.
As an empathetic soul, caring deeply for my community was second nature. But life took me down other roads, and that dream sat quietly in the back of my mind… until years later, when I was working on a remote cattle station 1500km from home.
I loved the work, but there was still a hollow space in my heart, a knowing that I was meant to do more.
That’s when I realised… celebrancy was my calling.
To honour love.
To honour life.
To hold space for the biggest moments we get in this lifetime, from the beginnings, the endings, and everything in between.
And that’s how Heartfelt Ceremonies with Simone was born. 🤍
