Lions Dryandra Village and Woodland Wildlife Located only 2 hours drive south east of Perth in the heart of the 28,000 hectares that is the DRYANDRA WOODLAND is the LIONS DRYANDRA WOODLAND VILLAGE.

Set in the heart of Dryandra Woodlands in scenic Western Australia, the Lions Dryandra Woodland Village offers several restored old Forestry Cottages and Nissan Huts for small to large groups of Glamping in the Bush. We offer six self contained cottages, sleeping up to 10 people plus two smaller cottages sleeping two and four people respectively. The Currawong complex caters for a large groups of

people (up to 60). This includes a commercial kitchen, dining facilities and toilets. Each restored woodcutters cottage has an open fireplace, power, fresh water, gas hot water, gas stoves, and all cooking utensils. You will need to bring your own bedding (sleeping bags, sheets, pillows, rugs), food, and leisure equipment. Other facilities: Oval, recreation hall, playground with toilets, and a resident manager.

Fantastic to see this Tammar Wallaby over the weekend, Tammar's are Dryandra's smallest Wallaby species standing up to 45 cm tall. They are very shy preferring the Sheoak areas with thick cover close by to hide in during the day.

EXCITING NEWS FROM THE WOODLAND.

Back in November of 2018 four young Malleefowl were released into Dryandra Woodland. Over the next year or so there were a few more birds released in hopes of helping the population which had been on the decline. These were seen every now and then by visitors over the years. In 2023 a couple of birds were sighted during the Numbat survey, knowing of an old mound nearby a camera was placed in a tree which captured a pair playing around at the mound. Malleefowl take a while to mature and this pair were still too young to breed and were just practicing, laying the groundwork for the future. During the next couple of years activity dropped at this mound and it still isn’t being used.

Surprisingly this year in February a photo was captured of this young Malleefowl chick by DBCA, this is the first confirmed breeding of the species at Dryandra for more than a decade! What a magic story. However, it didn’t end there, the parents were also captured on the camera, after reviewing the photos it turns out that one of the breeding pair is the same individual that walked off into the Woodland for the first time all those years ago. Hats off to all involved at DBCA for having a long term vision and laying the groundwork for this fantastic event to become reality.

Hi all. Those looking at booking a weekend in Dryanda know how hard it is with availability. But wait !!!!! A cancellation has come up for Mallee hen cottage 6th 7th 8th August.
Mallee hen is a 1 bedroom cottage with bunks in the living area.
Total cost is $300 so if interested in checking out wildflowers or birds as well as the numbats this is your chance. This wont last long.

We found this juvenile Thick-tailed Gecko under one of the bins, what a cracking little lizard. He was moved to a large woodpile where he can find a nice warm place to spend the winter.
