I had the privilege of marrying a really lovely couple yesterday, in warm sunshine and in their back garden. On my way back to the car, they gave me this gorgeous bouquet as a gift. Just a bit spolt, wasn't I?

WRITING YOUR WEDDING VOWS:

Over the years I have been a celebrant, I have had many brides and grooms who have struggled with writing their own wedding vows, so I thought I would give a hand to those who might be struggling a little. Begin with thinking, not writing, but remember to insert the required legal vows that I will give you, first up. They are required by law!
Begin with three ideas:

1. “Why do I love you?”
Perhaps it’s their quirkiness, their qualities, the little things they
do …

2. “Memorable Moments”.
Maybe the fun times you’ve shared, the “only us” moments, gentle and caring times …

3. “Promises You Want to Make”.
Serious and playful (but keep them honest).
Decide on length and tone:

One word of advice – don’t let your vows drag on – perhaps 2 to 3 minutes is quite sufficient. Guests don’t need to hear the ins and outs of your relationship!
Structure it like a mini story:
Here is a simple outline that I stick to:

1. Opening: A little about how you met and how you feel right now.

2. Body: Qualities you love, meaningful moments.

3. Closing: A hopeful, loving statement about your shared future.

Add a surprise or two and if you’re stuck, start with “I knew I loved you when…” or “I promise to …” and just keep going. Remember, you can always fall back on me, I am willing to help in any way I can. GOOD LUCK!

Oh!! I hate this time of the year!! Not so much the cold weather, but the fact that it's that time of the year again! TAX TIME!!! I have spent the whole day, cooped up in this office trying to complete the stuff I need to have available for the "Tax Lady/Man".

I always manage to lose at least two "important pieces of paper" like a stupid invoice that's hidden itself away in a never to be found hiding place, or some share-holder thingy that I never wanted to buy anyway, but was told, "it will be such a good investment"!

Well, I have finally got it all together, with the exception of one shareholder's remittance form (that I have been told by someone who is not within sight at the moment) that I must find and produce. Yeah, right - I'll pay to have it re-printed! Bah humbug!!

Fancy spending a day of mostly sunshine, inside an office where I hated what I was doing, but knowing... Yes, it'll happen all over again next year!!

Writing and presenting a funeral ceremony is not easy and I worry that perhaps I have not done enough or even perhaps, done too much. But receiving two lovely comments regarding the service I presented for Sue on Thursday made me happy.
