VINTAGE 2025: WRAPPED - with Oakridge Senior Winemaker Tim Dexter⁠

"Vintage kicked off early this year— with first fruit in the winery on Feb 6 for sparkling base. After a short lull, things ramped up fast: 80% of our intake came in over just ten days. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay were all in by the end of Feb, Shiraz followed closely, and Cabernet wrapped up in early March.⁠
⁠
Now, as March winds down, we’ve only got a couple of ferments left on skins—one Shiraz batch and some Cab. It’s been an intense and condensed vintage: early start, early finish. But the vineyards delivered outstanding fruit quality. The condition of the grapes as they came in was just superb, and we’re really excited about the wines that are already taking shape.⁠
⁠
Whites have finished ferment and are now topped and resting in barrel. Reds are mostly pressed off and ticking through malolactic fermentation. The winery is beginning to empty out, but the work’s far from over—barrel work, sulfuring, and the big clean-up are now in full swing.⁠

Today, we’re celebrating with the team and raising a glass at our vintage wrap-up party—well-deserved after a big few months. And, in a first for many, we’re looking forward to a proper Easter break—thanks to an early vintage and a late Easter. A breather for both the winery and the crew." - Tim⁠

It's International Riesling Day!

One of the most widely planted varieties in the world, Riesling is an incredibly popular grape. Aromatic and versatile, it can be made in many different styles and sweetness levels, from bone dry to very sweet.⁠

Our interpretation, the Horst Riesling 2024 - is made for the table; bright, fragrant and just off-dry, it's a dream match for spicy Thai dishes, grilled fish & veggies, casual aperitifs or sunset lounging on the deck.⁠
⁠
The fruit for this single-vineyard wine is sourced from a pocket of ancient red volcanic soils in Seville, where founder Horst 'Jim' Zitlaff planted our original vineyard back in 1978. The grapes were hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed, naturally fermented on full solids, then aged on yeast lees.

Georgie has honed her craft in wineries and vineyards across Europe, North America, New Zealand and throughout Australia.

Georgie has a deep curiosity in the detail of growing fine wine and is driven to maintain sustainability holistically, with a focus on sensitively farmed wines, diverse and inclusive teams and collaborative communities.

VINTAGE 2025 UPDATE

Vintage 2025 continues to move at lightning speed! The past two weeks have been warm, dry, and relentless—Chardonnay and Pinot has all hit the winery, with fruit from our premium upper Yarra vineyards —Hazeldene, Henk, and Funder— off in record time. Shiraz rolled in this weekend, and Cabernet won’t be far behind.

Our vineyard teams have been pushing through long days, racing against the clock to get everything picked at optimal ripeness. In a vintage moving this fast, timing is everything. With the fruit ripening all at once, it’s a constant balancing act—forecasting, fine-tuning, and trusting instinct and experience to nail each picking window.

This vintage has been one of intensity and speed, but the fruit looks exceptional. We’re excited to see how it unfolds in the winery!
