Scrolling through the professional photography from the recent AusMumpreneur Awards, I've been reflecting on my time at both the National Conference & National Awards.

I'm deeply honoured to have received the Bronze Award in the Events Business category at the 2025 AusMumpreneur Awards. Sharing this category win alongside the Gold and Silver winners - Julia Truong from JT. Production Management and Maree O'Shea from Malpara Florist Townsville - fills me with immense gratitude & pride. Their work is an absolute inspiration to me. They deserve all the congratulatory applause & sharing the stage with them was a true joy.

This Bronze win soaks in everything Social Ocean has poured its heart into in the last year: from the milestone 150th networking event for Ocean Network, to creating connection‑rich experiences like Ladies Who Long Lunch & running workshops, launches, product highlights, writing event plans & creating community campaigns so much more. It’s the many people we get to work with - the guests, speakers, collaborators, clients, & most of all, the incredible men & women who show up - that make every event unforgettable.

Thank you to the AusMumpreneur judges for recognising what community-led, purpose‑driven event design can do. And to every person who has rallied behind Social Ocean: thank you from the bottom of my heart.

A quick reminder for The Ocean Network this morning - we are in a different spot within the venue than we normally meet, due to an upgrade in process in our normal space.

Look for the yellow & white umbrellas as you enter - these sit outside the Public Bar along Oxley Avenue, which is where we'll be meeting today.

Entry is via the glass door from the walk through/tunnel, on your right at the top of the ramp/steps entry nearest the roundabout.

Ocean Network is on tomorrow!!! Arrival at 7:30am to The Belvedere for brekky, connecting with fellow business owners and a great reason to be out of your office for a couple of hours.

Founders Kirsty Fields and Leanne Blaney will welcome business owners to the Ocean Network for networking, business building and wonderful education for all sorts of areas within your business.

Special guest speaker Jeanette Jifkins from Onyx Legal will be presenting "Considering Joint Ventures".

We have an adjusted location tomorrow. We'll be in the Public Bar - just off the main entryway from Oxley Avenue closest to the roundabout. Look out for the yellow & white umbrellas.

The team at The Belvedere are making some flooring upgrades to the Pavillion where the Ocean Network group is hosted. So next week, we'll enjoy our morning in the Public Bar instead.

Everything else is as normal. Please meet in the Public Bar from 7:30am next Tuesday.

Breakfast ordering remains the same - via the QR codes at your seat from 7:30am or to staff at the counter.

You'll find the Public Bar behind these umbrellas at the front entry gates along Oxley Avenue if you're new to Ocean Network events ☺️

Due to loads of travel and launches the last month, our schedule has been somewhat disrupted.

📸 But Kirsty has been making the most of her most recent travel to the seaside city of Geelong by snapping some cool shots around town (for the 'gram) 💙🌊

😆 Plus there's always a funny story when she returns.

Right before this photo was taken, Kirsty took a snap for an elderly couple who wanted to pose with the Geelong bollard on the far right. But they only wanted that one in the photo with them - because it was modelled on their daughter! How cool is that?!

In January when everyone was loosing their minds about the sizing changes for posting to Instagram, we talked about how we'd adopted the new sizing changes for all our social media management clients in 2024.

⏰ Since January, there's been a second size change. It's been a little bit sneaky. Unlike the square to rectangle change which was sooooo obvious, this one is now only catching folks out subtly.

⚠️ Check to see if this is you.

👉 Head to your Instagram profile, and check out your pinned posts. If you have a social media manager and you don't know about this, they showcase a little white pin in the top right hand corner and make the posts that are pinned stay in that location until later unpinned.

If you've had a curated design where the 3 posts at top are pinned & should (or used to) look like a single image, but they are now - well... out of whack - then you need to re-do these posts.

Ask your social media manager to do that for you, if you don't do it yourself.

A news update on the 2025 Spring Gala Ball - there are now only three tables of tickets available 👏👏 This sensational evening will be held on Friday, 17 October 2025 and will be raising funds for the Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital.

This year Crew Legal aim to raise enough funds to purchase a BabyRoo Neonatal Resuscitation Open Care Warmer Trolley for use in the NICU.

Last years' event was a sell out, and together we raised over $42,000. To get that close again, we need your help to put the FUN in fundraising. Prepare to FROCK UP with us, and party the night away at the Redcliffe Leagues Club.

Wow - what an incredible honour! I've just had the incredible privilege of receiving this bronze Award for Best Events Business 🤩😍 at the National Awards in Geelong!!

Events are so often experienced from the outside, but behind the scenes is a heart-led commitment to strategy, connection, and community - and that’s what we do at Social Ocean every day.

I’ve hosted, designed, assisted with, taken registrations at, or MC'd hundreds of events that aim not just to bring people together but to celebrate their stories, give them visibility, share a cause or expertise - or simply to have a bloody good time at!!!

From The Ocean Network’s free business events with my first and longest collaborator Leanne Blaney 🙌 which has just ticked over 150 networking breakfasts. to our sell-out Ladies Who Long Lunch series with the magical Jo Stevens, my and our mission is always to create space where people feel seen, heard and uplifted.

Thank you to Kylie Milstead, who is my constant sounding board and assistant who helps round out some of my craziest notions week to week. What a birthday gift to bring back!

And of course, thanks to my husband for pretending to understand what I'm raving on about on a daily basis and for helping my passionate interest in recycling bottles for table centrepieces.

To our wonderful clients who put their faith in me / us to help them create their own impact and build visibility. And to the amazing men and women who show up to all the rooms, places, and spaces open and ready to connect and build community with us.

Ocean Network is on tomorrow!!! Arrival at 7:30am to The Belvedere for brekky, connecting with fellow business owners and a great reason to be out of your office for a couple of hours.

Instead of “I offer X service,” try talking about the outcomes your customers might get - whether it's for a product or a service.

If we were to do this here at Social Ocean, we might try:
👉 “You’ll feel more confident showing up online after your Visual Vibe Shoot we're collab-ing with Candice on.”
This is for a product you can buy from us - but doesn't sound overly sales-like.

Or
👉 “No more Canva headaches - just clear, calm understanding of the features, ready for you to elevate your brand.”
This is for a service, and isn't that different a sentence structure from a product.

In both samples we're talking about the customer need first of all, instead of focusing on us.

Emotions are mostly what make people click.

A quick snapshot of a fulfilling morning with local charity (& our clients) Band of Brothers Qld Inc. at the Redcliffe Uniting Hub, where we hosted the Cancel Loneliness community launch.

It was a real opportunity for me to meet many representatives from different organisations from the City of Moreton Bay and Brisbane, who came to attend the event and hear about the important work the Charity is doing and how they can participate.

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week 💛 The perfect setting for our morning tea launch!

We were dressed in sunny yellow, which has become the lighthouse colour of this body of work. It's enough to put a smile on my dial as well as attract attention and hopefully start a conversation!

On site having a meeting today ahead of the community launch for Cancel Loneliness with local charity Band of Brothers Qld Inc.

We'vw been checking off the stations around the space, ensuring jobs are allocated, packing, & shopping lists are updated & admiring all the print assets for the campaign & event.

It's been a brilliant team effort over several months! But we're in high spirits & all feeling very proud of the work put in to bring the campaign to launch.

Ladies Who Long Lunch started as this idea:
What if I could get women to gather in a space that made them feel celebrated, special, didn't impede on family or weekend time, was an opportunity to meet new friends, and be supportive of each other through getting to know each other in a fun-packed today..... not just "networked"?

Ladies Who Long Lunch was born to help women feel proud, confident and seen - by themselves as much as their colleagues.

And now? It’s sold-out events, with national collaborations, and lives changed.

This year, being a Finalist in the Women’s Champion Award category is more than an honour - it’s a reflection of a mission I live every day. Because every single day I dream about making our events bigger, better, more fun and bringing speakers in who'll leave you changed.

📸 This is me at last year's Regional Long Lunch, and in just one hour we'll be starting this year's event in Roma, Qld.

Another event that's been six months in planning, and I can't wait to meet new friends for myself - and to connect women to each other in the beautiful Maranoa Region of Queensland.
