SHANKS DAD!!!

I know it’s perfect right? A shank related pun for Father’s Day…Sometimes it feels like I’m just a portal for these absurdly cringey promotional moments - they just arrive, fully formed, at the perfect time

Brent’s been stockpiling shanks all winter. Now is their time to shine!

We will be adding wonderfully rich braised lamb shanks, cooked in our XO Cabernet, served with creamy polenta to our set menu for this Sunday only. ALL DADS who book for a set menu will get a complimentary glass of w**e or a schooner of b**r! It’s as simple as that.

We’re looking busy this Sunday, but have room for more! Get in quick though…the marketing power of a strong pun is vast, particularly when your target market is a dad.

T H I S W E E K E N D :

It feels deep winter. Proper cold. Time to slow things down and eat well. Some classics on the menu this week with Maldon beef ragu parpadelle, potato gratin, gnocci with mushrooms, salt baked beats and tiramisu to finish.

On the w**e list we’ve started to pull some old bottles from the cellar of our friends and heroes to deepen the offer. A few historic local w**es and interesting old Australian bottles. Over the next months we’re going to put some effort into this little list to share the stories over those producers that inspired us - small families farming well and making w**es the stubborn and joyful way!

Doug Alderson has finished our waiters station cabinetry and it makes me emotional. It’s feeling so good in here. Warmth and care and detail. Super charming, characterful stuff. We’ve even got business cards and branded coasters this week courtesy of Vincent Casey Brand Design. Feels good.

Love to see you this weekend. For a taste, a glass, a snack, a meal of a dance. You are welcome!

CELEBRATING FRIENDS DOING GREAT STUFF!!!

A few shots from a very special gathering to mark the opening of the new home of Art Class Castlemaine and GET GOOD PRINTS on Saturday evening!

My darling mates Alex (Art Class) and Lee (Get Good Prints) are two of my favourite people - wide open hearts and wildly creative brilliant heads. The kind of people who make you feel better just by being around them, and make you look way better when you get them to do work for you!

I’ve been collaborating with Alex on all kinds of branding and design projects across both Boomtown and Minim for nearly 10 years! From label artwork to posters, interior design and just about anything I need a designers eye looked over! Just an amazing person with an endless well of creativity and a burning need to make everything look and feel better!

Lee has this exceptionally rare talent of being able to capture and articulate moments - to distill something complex and chaotic into its most beautiful and elemental essence. An amazing writer, photographer, copywriter and designer. A very classy English chap with infinite patience for my whimsy and very good taste in music and fine things.

I just love these guys and am so proud of them both. And now that they are neatly housed in the same building, my tea and biscuits budget will be cut in half!

Follow them both please and you will be better for it! Alex is slowly ramping up plans for more events and art classes and Lee is gearing up for fine art and photography prints to anyone who wants nice stuff to look at!.

Anyway, lovely night. Great people, what a town.

Our new branded glasses arrived this week. Felt auspicious and long overdue! 11 years in and still figuring things out…

Lovely salt baked beets on the menu this week. Potato gratin with guanciale, tiramisu for dessert…w**es with heft and detail and really good martinis to keep you honest. Pet nats coming along very nicely too!

Good times, every time.

Showing all the colours of Boomtown this weekend with absurdly generous country hospitality and a big club night to shake off the winter chills!

Very excited to welcome back the second instalment of Mikey Cahill WINTER OF DISCO CONTENT! The mid winter dance party that delivers everything you need exactly when you need it, with local heart throbs Jen Moore 🍉 and Pearl. This is going to be masssssive with only a handful of tickets left.

SATURDAY NIGHT - doors from 7. Snacks early, loads of drink specials, mulled w**e, amazing people!

What this means is that we are closed for dinner Saturday night but open for food and Bev all other services!

I’m away this week so can’t update you with nice shots of what we have been up to….so instead, here’s a look at humble beginnings from the first year of Boomtown, 2015!! Wild to reflect on these early days. We started with no money, not much equipment, a scattering of experiences and a heap of passion…and stupidity. We’ve evolved and reformed many times from back then to what we are today, but that first year was a wild ride!

Nowadays, we have an amazing w**ery, cellar door and bistro with the best team of staff making it all work like a proper business!! What a lovely ride it’s been!

Anyway, come down for lunch or dinner, a w**e tasting, a quick drink and a snack, a meet with your book club, a family function, a wedding, a first date, a last good bye…we will take care of the rest!

Look at this guy….sees one sunset on a holiday and gets all moody and introspective!

A WEEK IN THE LIFE:

Another week passes and we are back encouraging you to put your hair down, or up, or under a beanie and come down here for a plate and a glass. With friends or family or solo….however you do it, we have a spot for you and we’re professionals at making you feel very good!

It’s been a cold week and we are juggling a lot of wonderful things like farm visits, pruning old vines, pickling everything, making more pasta, deciding on new hat colours, picking insane volumes of mushrooms, enjoying the magic of winter greenery on bush tracks, low light photos of sweaty bistro doors, tasting w**es we are soon to release, eating cauliflower gratin and bundling canes from our vineyard for the nursery. How nice and rural is that!!

The amazing CastlemaineDocumentaryFestival is in town this weekend and we are here for you for little breaks between shows for martinis and oysters! Saturday night and Sunday lunch are looking nice and frenzied this weekend but you could probably drive a bus through here on Friday night at this point…which means there’s plenty of tables available for you!

I’ve also been pinching quiet moments to work on the business and not in the business (which apparently is good advice) and I’m overwhelmed to the point of distraction by just how many loose ends i have. Just chipping away…one day it’ll be so nice in here!!!

The longest weekend. Luxury hospitality and amazing aromas all weekend at Boomtown. Saturday lunch is fully booked but we can shower you with love tonight and tomorrow night and Sunday lunch. But you should definitely book!
