Sharing this for any friends (or their children) possibly travelling to the UK who will need to get their UK passport in order to enter the UK if you’re actually a dual AUS/UK citizen. Ie if you are a UK citizen by birth but only have an Australian passport then you MUST get your UK passport before travelling to the UK otherwise you won’t be allowed to enter. You can’t enter on your AUS passport if you’re a dual citizen 😳😳😳
If you are planning a trip to the UK, be aware that we (Australian citizens) now need to get an ETA (visa waiver) if you’re travelling to the UK. (Edited because this is currently in place)
However, even more importantly, from 25th Feb, if you are a dual citizen with the UK, or if you have a child that qualifies for duel nationality, you/they can’t enter the UK on your Australian passport. So if, like me, you have a child that qualifies for UK citizenship, you need to make sure they have a UK passport because they can’t get a ETA or enter on an Australian passport.
Edited - if im wrong please tell me lol. But thats the info I’m finding.
I imagine this is going to cause a huge backlog of eligible Australians applying for UK passports, so if you have a trip coming up you should start your application now!
Will this affect you?
