Being a marriage celebrant is the best job in the world – it’s all about love! Six other civil celebrants have chosen me as their celebrant for their own weddings - how good is that?! (And paid my full fee.) I've been celebrant at over 1400 weddings, mostly in Canberra and nearby NSW. (Happy to travel further.) These days I specialise in simple weddings at any place, at any time, day or night, wee

days or weekends, with any number of guests. They are 'beautifully simple and simply beautiful'. I have an excellent portable PA system and cords for attaching many types of phone or tablet for your intro music track. My fee is $700, all included (except travel outside the Canberra/Queanbeyan/Hall area). I host small weddings on weekdays or weekend in my large romantic Heart Garden - or in my green room, overlooking the garden if the weather's unkind. Starting from 10.30am to 4.30pm, with up to 12 adult guests. All children are welcome. BYO bubbly for a celebratory drink and I'll provide the crystal flutes. Bring the music of your choice. I enjoy hosting elopements in my Heart Garden and can provide witnesses if needed. This page has news and photos from recent weddings. Only one more wedding for me before the end of this year and like many weddings I attend, it will be small and private. 'Beautifully simple and simply beautiful'. This is my specialty - although there's no limit to the number of guests. (I'll never post photos from a private wedding.)

This time last year, I closed my Heart Garden for weddings and the wedding scene has been quieter for me since then. Over the years, I hosted about three hundred weddings in my beautiful romantic garden - all at no extra cost to the couple. (And officiated at over fourteen hundred elsewhere.) Some ceremonies were held in my green room, overlooking the garden if it was cold outside, or very hot, or raining. I'm glad to say, this didn't happen often.

As always, weddings for me in 2025 have been joyful and each one so special. Sadly, at one wedding, the groom was not well but their guests had flown in from Vietnam, so we had an unavoidable time constraint. But all the others went without a hitch, so to speak 😁 and mostly the weather was kind, even for the winter weddings.

As usual this year, I experienced a wonderful range of cultures, with brides and grooms from Austria, the Philippines, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Australia, Peru, Vietnam, and two brides from Canada.

Genevieve and Mitchell married at the Boathouse on a glorious mid-autumn day. (See photo with MB) The bridesmaids' frocks were colourful and the flowers were outstanding. (Got the name of the florist but forgot to write it down.)

I'm looking forward to another year of joining couples and their special people at their weddings. I love it, that even in this jaded day and age, people still love weddings. How happy is that?! 😊

Just married! Carolina and Scott married at the National Arboretum Canberra on a winter's day when bad weather was predicted. But the sky was beautiful with clouds and big blue patches. Scott and Carolina shared moving heartfelt vows in this perfect picturesque setting. My congratulations to them both! 🥂💕

Here's a note I've needed to add after this post appeared:
YES I'm still a celebrant and still loving it!
I no longer host weddings in my beautiful garden which I did, at no cost to couples, for over twenty years. As celebrant for nearly 1500 couples, most of the weddings I've attended have been at other venues.

Now - back to the original post:
Heart Garden weddings were so wonderful. There were around 300 altogether, till November last year, including the wedding of my elder son Rob and his wife Callie in October 2004. 💖💖Five-year-old Will read a poem for his parents. With his little sister Molly, Will autographed my marriage register. 💖💖

Am I still a celebrant? YES!!

I love this role. 🥰
If I stop loving it, I'll stop doing it.
I'm available for simple weddings of any size at any time on any day, at the venue chosen by the soon-to-be-weds.

But I no longer hold weddings in my beautiful Heart Garden or green room.
