Sri Lankan Crab Curry accompanied by a Kochi Sambol and garlic butter infused bread. A mouthwatering combination. This a dish that is so close to my heart. As a child I have seen how my grandmother put so much love and effort into making this, which was then passed onto my mother and this is my take on this scrumptious dish.
Different lankans have various ways of making this and it has to be a cultural thing as well, as people from the north of Sri Lanka usually use Jaffna curry powder, whereas people from the south usually use roasted and unroasted curry powder in making this. Both tasting equally good.
Food brings people together and Sri Lankans are very fond of this. Whether it is sharing a plate of Biriyani for Ramazan, pongal or Kavum and Kokis for Sinhala and Tamil avurudu or Christmas cake Sri Lankans have always been diverse and that has been the strength of out tiny paradise island.
Lately we hear stories from our beautiful island about tense ethnic situations but remember the words that you use and the actions that you do is taking us back to the dark days. These are the actions of just a handful of people but majority of Lankans respect every culture, respect every ethnicity and respect each other.
SRI LANKA IS THE NUMBER 1 DESTINATION FOR TRAVEL IN 2019. SRI LANKA IS PARADISE AND SRI LANKA IS TOO GOOD TO FORGET.
