Tuggeranong Homestead is an extensive, heritage-listed rural property in the heart of southern Canberra ACT - an ideal venue for conferences, weddings, and events. We invite you to come to the Homestead an

d experience the magic of this historic peaceful place. Looking for exclusive privacy and country ambiance, then the 1860-year-old Canberra's Tuggeranong Homestead following features may appeal to you. The Homestead offers several rooms, some with open fire places, complete with sun room. A romantic machinery shed for dinner (casual /or more formal, with fire pit outside, truly evocative of Australian country life). Made from hardwood framed and corrugated iron clad with slab and wood floors, it offers a rustic and relaxed environment. The picturesque garden with fountain, a bandstand, an outdoor café style area, including the 29 hectares of working property carrying cattle, chooks and woodlands, a 120-year-old Oak tree, Elms trees dating back to the late 1800, a 1920 shearing shed, convicts barn dating back to 1835, all offer an unequalled, secluded country setting for your special ceremony, canapes, reception, family and friends and photos. Our licensed facilities has a commercial kitchen which offers a selection of meals /refreshments. We specialise in meeting special dietary requirements and the liquor licence operates from 7.00am to 12.00 midnight. Together with our staff we pride ourselves in providing professional personal service, peaceful, charming and stylish surrounds and quality food in generous serves. We recently hosted a few day and night conferences at Tuggeranong Homestead, and it was the perfect reminder that yes we do conferences!

From the moment our guests arrived, they were greeted with fresh tea, coffee, homemade biscuits and seasonal fruit, followed by our famous warm scones with jam and cream for morning tea. The rest of the day featured a rotating selection of hot and cold dishes served across our heritage rooms because great ideas deserve great food (and no, it’s never just sandwiches here).

Our guests told us they loved the peace and quiet of our secluded setting, away from traffic and distractions. The vibe allowed them to truly focus, collaborate and connect, just as a productive workday should be.

🎉 Catie’s Roaring 30th! 🎉

We had an absolute blast hosting Catie’s 30th birthday at Tuggeranong Homestead, complete with a 1920s twist and a self-hosted murder mystery that brought the house down (in the best way).

The Homestead came alive with feathers, flappers, and fabulous fun. Laughter echoed through every room, with dramatic gasps and joyful screams as guests pieced together clues and embraced the chaos of the night. From vintage props to themed outfits, this party was full of energy and unforgettable moments.

Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet-style menu with two mains and three sides, all served alongside drinks from the bar. The party flowed through our heritage rooms, with every corner setting the stage for a night of glamour, mystery and fun.

✨ One of the best parts? Catie and her guests had the entire venue to themselves.

Minders of Tuggeranong Homestead (MOTH) invites you to the 5th CEW Bean Memorial Lecture

Tuggeranong Homestead Sunday 28th September 2-4 pm

Presented by Professor Melanie Oppenheimer:

“They also serve who only stand and wait:” re-evaluating the portrayal of volunteers on the home front in the Official Histories of World War I and II

For over thirty years Professor Melanie Oppenheimer has been exploring the valuable role of voluntary organisations and volunteers in both WW I and WW II. Ernest Scott’s WW1 volume includes a chapter on patriotic funds, but there is scant reference to volunteers in the WW II Official History. This lecture will explore the reasons for this neglect, which points to a general lack of understanding of the role and value of volunteers in our society.

Professor Melanie Oppenheimer is a respected historian based in the School of History at the Australian National University. Her many notable publications include: The Power of Humanity: 100 years of Australian Red Cross; The Last Battle: Soldier Settlement in Australia 1916-1939 (with Bruce Scates); Oceans of Love (about WW1 nurse Narrelle Hobbes)

Odyssey Theatre’s Law and Marauder is an interactive pirate murder mystery where two rival crews clash over treasure, secrets, and grudges. You’ll take on a character, uncover clues (or cause more chaos), and see if you can survive the night.
