I'm looking forward to meeting all the lovely people who attend the Expo on the 22nd of this month. It's always a great day with so many things to see and do. This year my booth will also include free Tarot or Seer card readings! Come and talk to me about your ceremony and have a bit of a peek at your fortune as well!

I read an article recently that described a wedding ceremony in the UK which had been written by AI. Unfortunately for the couple, the ceremony did not include mandatory elements which led to the marriage being declared void.

This is a tragic story and I want to assure all of my couples and those considering me for their ceremony, that I write all of my scripts in collaboration with my couples. I never use AI as I believe the technology to still be in it's infancy. Using poor tools leads to poor results. Anyway, wouldn't you want to design the ceremony of your dreams rather than be shoehorned into an AI standard?

Something to consider.

When you "mouthpush" at the wedding, it is important to hold it long enough for the photographer to capture that moment where you take your first kiss as a married couple. Just a second or so is enough though. Too long and it might make your guests a little uncomfortable sharing an intimate moment with you! Too short and your photographer might miss it. Tricky huh? Luckily all you need to do is kiss and say 'hold' in your mind and then finish it.

This cartoon is from Nathan W Pyle. He makes some amazing and hilarious cartoons which cast an alien eye on our everyday situations. I love them!

Celebrants are required by law to ensure the identities of the people they are marrying are correct before solemnizing the marriage. We use identity documents such as birth cetificate and driving license to do that. Luckily we haven't had to check if anyone is a robot just yet. Give that a few years I guess!

This is a terrible setback for these couples. My heart goes out to them. It is always very important to read the contract and ask questions if you have them. I really hope that they find alternatives in time.

Couples that were due to marry at the Loxley on Bellbird Hill wedding venue in the Hawkesbury feel they have been left in limbo following a devastating fire.

Writing vows can be fun, endearing and affirming. I like to assist my clients in developing vows that resonate with them. I recommend writing a letter to each other saying what they love about the other, how it makes them feel, and what they promise to do to support all of this throughout their marriage. Then we use that letter as a base for the vows.

Message me if you are considering getting married and need a celebrant to aid you in putting together a memorable wedding ceremony.

I was recently asked if it was true that Islamic refugees could marry a few wives and then claim benefits for all of them. I assured the person that it was patently untrue. Under the laws of Australia, only two people can be married and that is to the exclusion of all others. As celebrants, we actually read this to the couple during the ceremony. The ridiculous story about the refugees is, unfortunately, propaganda designed to build hatred to others. I hope you that Australians can give others a fair go and rise above this deliberate attempt at division.

Should anyone like to discuss it with me, I'd be happy to point out the legislation (The Marriage Act 1961).

Met a young couple who told me that they had decided that they would change both their names after the ceremony. She didn't like hers and wasn't too keen on his either! So she shopped around for a surname that had a meaning that resonated with both of them. The two found one they really liked so they will adopt it after I register their marriage.

I find it so refreshing when people look for new, unusual or fun elements to include in the ceremony! I help where I can with suggestions and ideas and, together, we build the ceremony that they will enjoy and remember forever!

Eloping is becoming more popular as prices for wedding venues and extras climb beyond the capacity of couples to pay. Affordable weddings are not necessarily low quality. You can have a memorable wedding within a tight budget if you focus on what is important to you and look at innovative options rather than fixed packages from venues.

Lovebirds blow their wedding budget by an average of $8,000.
