As golden hour set in this evening, I was struck once again by the enigma that is this Autumn-blooming tree peony “Souvenir de Maxime Cornu”. Peonies bloom for a short period in late spring and early summer, so you can imagine my surprise and delight when this beauty chose April to express herself. I decided to cut her and bring her inside the house to place in a bud vase in my daughter’s room - an expression of love for my beautiful girl. I express myself in gifts like this one, much like my wonderful mother did for me when she was here on earth. She would have been thrilled by Maxime, as yellow and red were her favourite colours and she always wanted to grow peonies. Miss you mum. 😘
