Last week I headed along to the Underground Spirits Australia Cocktail High Tea in the Gin Garden and it was SUCH a fun afternoon!

We started with my favourite, a G&T and then enjoyed cocktails served in teapots and a gorgeous high tea by L’épi Artisan Bakery! 🌷✨

One of my favourite parts of being a party planner is getting out and actually experiencing what Canberra has to offer. I’m always trying new venues, activities and experiences so when a client asks me, “What should we do?” I can recommend places I’ve actually experienced myself, not just something I found on Google.

And this one gets a BIG tick from me and is definitely a recommendation for my clients this weekend. 🙌

Last week I swapped party planning for a day of learning, connecting and talking all things events at the Event Organisers Summit at Novotel Canberra

Between keynote sessions and workshops, I had the opportunity to sit down one-on-one with venues, event agencies, speakers and industry suppliers including Novotel Canberra, THE VISUAL STORYTELLERS, Navarra Venues, Minds at Work, ICMI Speakers & Entertainers, VEE Agency and more.

One of the things I’m really passionate about at Simply the Best CBR is staying connected to the people behind the events industry.

Because great events don’t happen from sitting behind a laptop Googling suppliers. They come from knowing the venues, meeting the people, understanding what they offer and building relationships with businesses I can confidently bring into my clients’ events.

There were also some brilliant conversations around creativity, storytelling and how we can make events more engaging and memorable.

After more than 10 years working in events, I still LOVE learning more about this industry and discovering new ways to create better experiences.

Canberra event planning is very exciting right now and I’m very happy to be right in the middle of it!

Pearls, cocktails and two gorgeous brides-to-be… what more could you want? 🥂✨

Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of celebrating the gorgeous Rach and Mon at their joint hens party!

While the ladies enjoyed Tipsy Tea at White Rabbit, I hosted a Pearl Jewellery Workshop where each guest created two stunning pieces using AAA-quality pearls, semi-precious gemstones and Japanese seed beads. The best part? Their jewellery can be worn to the wedding and treasured long after the cocktails have worn off!

And this gorgeous feedback from Rach and Mon made my day:
“We loved every minute of it… Georgia made the whole process so easy and we couldn’t have asked for a better day.”

One hens party changed everything for me.

During COVID in 2021, I was planning a hens party for a friend.

And, naturally, I took the assignment very seriously 😂
I started researching everything Canberra had to offer and before I knew it, I had a spreadsheet with almost 100 vendors.

Activities. Venues. Food. Styling. Transport. Entertainment.

It took me WEEKS.

And somewhere amongst the tabs, spreadsheets and Instagram stalking, I remember thinking…
Surely there has to be an easier way to do this?!

Canberra had SO many incredible businesses and experiences, but there was no single place to find them all.

And if finding the vendors was this time-consuming for me (someone with a degree in Event & Tourism Management, years of industry experience and loved to party) how was everyone else doing it?!

That little thought planted a very big seed.

What started as planning one hens party became the idea for Simply the Best CBR.

I wanted to build the thing I wished I’d had.

A business that knew Canberra’s party scene inside out.

A trusted network of incredible local vendors.

And someone you could hand the planning to and say, “Here’s the vibe. Please just make it happen.”

So I started meeting vendors, visiting venues, building relationships and turning that ridiculous spreadsheet into something much bigger.

In 2022, Simply the Best CBR officially launched. 🎉

And now, hundreds of vendor meetings and a whole lot of parties later, I get to help other people skip the overwhelm that started this sweet little biz.

All because I agreed to plan one hens party. 🥹
Funny how one little yes can completely change the direction of your life.

And I’m very glad I did it. 💖
