Bees on the tulsi and dahlias in the home garden are my happy place with the flowers now! From a more personal perspective, here’s an update on my relationship with flowers and how that’s changed. This is Britte, I’ve been an owner / operator of a flower cart, two retail florists and a floral designer for events in the Byron Bay & hinterland area. Beginning floristry back to the 90’s, I worked with Saskia atGRANDIFLORA SYDNEYy and was hugely inspired by her passion and kind nature. Going to the Sydney flower market opened my eyes to the world of flowers, directly from the growers. The treasures found, the heartwarming colours that filled me with hope. I moved back home to Byron and started Beautiflora. It was challenging sourcing an abundance of garden fresh flowers with longevity, in a tropical climate. As the years went working with recipes that included imported chemical treated flowers was hard to avoid. The balance of local seasonal blooms and commercially grown imports on the flower market became a growing concern. Local, spray free & seasonal flowers are so important for the children’s future. Bees and indoor plants have been a focus during this time of reflection after closing the shop, it’s a natural evolution towards organic botanicals. Also find me at 🌱 beautiflora
