BEATMAKING & PRODUCTION
The next First Nations Music Program Weekly Workshop is all about building beats and turning ideas into tracks.
We’ll explore drums, rhythm, sampling, arrangement and different approaches to production, with plenty of time to get hands-on and make something.
No particular software, equipment or level of experience required — just bring your ideas.

Do you love to sing? Ready to connect?
Want to be part of something fresh, fun, and deeply rooted in community? Step into the rhythm and join the Singing Dingo Choir! Six weeks of collaborative vocal sessions, we’ll weave together a unique musical piece featuring Bundjalung baygalnah (Northern Rivers First Nation dialects).
Your voice will help commemorate the very first season of the Dingo “Jazz” Festival as we showcase our creation on the big stage!

FIRST NATIONS MUSIC PROGRAM WEEKLY WORKSHOP SERIES
We’re opening up the First Nations Music Program for a series of free evening workshops at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium.
Across five weeks we’ll explore songwriting, beatmaking, recording, live performance and releasing music, followed by our Building a Life in Music masterclass with MR RHODES.

Applications are now open for the First Nations Artist Camp 2026

We Are Proud to Announce Our 2026 Lead Artist, Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, a celebrated Quandamooka woman, artist and creative storyteller whose practice weaves together textiles, printmaking, natural fibres and fashion.

Deeply connected to Country and the rich cultural traditions of the Quandamooka people, Delvene’s work is a powerful expression of identity, storytelling and living culture. Through her art, she honours and shares the stories, knowledge and creative practices passed down through generations, carrying forward the teachings of her mother, Evelyn, and grandmother, Bethel. Her work reflects an enduring connection to Country, culture and community, creating spaces where tradition and contemporary expression come together.

Deadly Weavers
9 July - 12 July

Deadly Weavers is a four-day NAIDOC Week exhibition and public program celebrating the strength, creativity, and cultural knowledge of Bundjalung weaving and contemporary Aboriginal fibre arts. Presented by the Gathering Space weavers, the exhibition showcases works created through 18 months of gathering, learning, weaving and sharing cultural knowledge. Alongside the exhibition, visitors are invited to participate in an open weaving circle, creating opportunities for cultural exchange, community connection and the celebration of weaving as a living cultural practice.

Featuring Penny Evans, Val Smith, Sonya Breckenridge, Penina Welch, Bernie Harada, Belle Budden, Kylie Caldwell, Leah Walke, Maryanne Adams, Donella Waters and Emily Roberts-Field.

Exhibition dates and times:
Thursday 8 July, 12.00 - 6.00pm Friday - Sunday, 10.00am - 4.00pm

Launch:
Thursday 9th July, 4:30 - 5:30pm

Come weave with Gathering Space weavers
Weaving Circle from 1.00pm - 3.00pm on Friday
Saturday and Sunday.

All welcome, no experience necessary. Donation of $10 per person, bookings required. Book now.
