Hailey and Mark met, like all good modern romances, on Tinder. Mark actually didn’t think Hailey was real because she hadn’t written a blurb so Mark messaged her and said “Hi, to prove you’re not a bot, what’s your plan for the zombie apocalypse?” And Hailey’s initial thought was “what’s a bot”. But drawing from GOT for inspiration for her answer, she said “zombie mind control”. Let’s just say Mark was hooked, and they still debate the theory to this day.

In classic Mark form, he was slow to ask Hailey out and as he was often working on mining camps away, Hailey said to him, “you totally should ask me out”. Their first date was out south bank, and Mark was late because he was “parking his car”. Hailey messaged him saying “hurry up I’m thirsty”. Once he’d arrive, Mark, being the beer conocer that he is, ordered a raspberry sour beer - it was bright pink - not a good look. But the date was a total hit!

One time casanova Mark messaged Hailey saying “hugging you would be better than this concrete pillow” and another was “just went to the Hails substation, but it’s not as cool as you”. Smoooooth. He totally bombed!! But Hailey recognised the sentiment and messaged back “here’s what went wrong here, and here’s a list of other industrial items you could compare me to…”

Hailey and Mark are such a great couple! So funny and so happy! I absolutely loved sharing their story with their family and friends. What a joy!
