A wedding aisle is for the bride!
It highlights the final leg of her journey to join with her husband or partner. It’s a symbol of transition, commitment, and arrival. When a bride walks it, they’re joining a line of brides and grooms who’ve done the same for hundreds of years.
The aisle is also a stage for emotion for the ceremony. It is where the bride’s ritualised movement causes all guests and onlookers stop, turn, watch and become emotionally engaged with the event.
It also represents sacred ground that is only walked upon by her initially and not others. Its practical function is to keep the brides dress clean and unmarked from the ground below.
From an event planning point-of-view, it is the largest visual accessory of the ceremony. Therefore, careful consideration is required for colour selection and layout.
