OPHA Board Member, Katarina Roa recently attended a Cancer Awareness Gathering & Morning Tea at Kanteen Venue & Events.

This event created a space to hear the many personal stories of those that have been affected by cancer, as well as honour loved ones who have bravely lost their battles with the disease.

Ngā mihi nui to Awhina and the Kanteen Venue & Events team for hosting this space for connection, kōrero, and community healing 💛

Kia Ora whanau ! Come along to a beautiful series of Wednesday morning playgroups introducing te reo Māori through , play , Waiata (songs), pūrākau (stories) and connection.

Wednesdays at the Verandah cafe ! First session starts next Wednesday 4th June .

The cafe and barista will be open for hungry parents and tamariki (children) alike 🥞🍰☕️

A special morning ahead 💛
Join us in supporting Mihikore Nolan-Davis and her heartfelt appeal for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea — a space for connection, kōrero, and community healing.

🕦 Formalities begin at 11:30 AM – see the flyer below for our beautiful lineup of speakers and shared moments.

☕️ Our café will be open for orders as soon as you arrive.
Feel free to purchase coffee and cakes from our barista — part of the proceeds from cafe sales will be donated to the Cancer Council 💛

🍽️ Food will be served after the formalities to allow us time to honour each speaker and create a calm, respectful space.
We kindly ask for your patience — everything is made fresh and with love, and your support means so much.

Bring a photo for the memorial wall, bring a friend, or simply bring your beautiful self. We look forward to holding space together in strength, hope, and aroha. 🌿

Just a gentle reminder for tomorrow! 😍
Join us in supporting Mihikore Nolan-Davis and her heartfelt appeal for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea ☕️

We’ll be holding space with the strength and wisdom of wāhine toa who are bravely sharing their personal journeys with cancer — a disease that has touched us all in one way or another.

🕊️ We’ve created a memorial wall to honour loved ones lost. Feel free to bring a photo, a friend currently going through it, your whānau, or simply yourself — wherever you’re at on this journey, you’re welcome. Let’s gather in hope, connection, and care 🥰

Doors open at 11 AM, with formalities beginning at 11:30 AM.
