I have been out of the loop. As well as being a Floral Designer, I am an Author/ Illustrator, Multidisciplinary Artist, Visual Art Teacher with the Department of Education and a Seasonal Tutor - Primary and Masters Arts Education at Griffith University. Busy to say the least and taking time to return to my creativity, flowers have always been in my heart since a young girl and I am excited to create with Botanical Material in new ways. I have been busy creating sculptures using Industrial Waste PVC Discs saved from Landfill, Sewing and Craft Materials saved from Landfill and Dried Floral Flowers, Foliage and Gum Seed Pods from Tesselaar Flowers - Brisbane I am creating these discs to form a large scale sculptural installation to bring awareness to over consumption, waste, and the impact on habitats and the environment. Time flies, 10 years ago, I was setting up flowers on of the Powerhouse in Brisbane and at Mirra. I loved these bouquets, the colours, the textures, the floral combination. Today I attended a Still Life Drawing Class at The Aboriginal Art Co. as a part of the World Science Festival. A wondeful opportunity to be creative, meet new people, learn, collaborate, learn about Care for Country and sketch Botanical Material collected from the Sunshine Coast after Cyclone Alfred. On Sunday I walked the Jean Paul Gaultier Runway for the Brisbane Festival Be Iconic Event. I made a Sea Inspired Dried Floral Headpiece that included small pieces of Ghost Net that was found on the beach by the Gulf of Carpanteria. The Inclusive Event had a number of Brisbane Locals imagining, designing, creating and modelling designs for this amazing event held at the Southbank Piazza on Sunday afternoon. I focussed mine on a ‘Care for the Ocean and Marine Life’ Theme. Flowers, Fashion, Creativity, Community, Inclusion, Music, Runway, fun!
