18 YEARS OF LOVE, LAUGHTER & A WHOLE LOT OF “I DO”! ❤️
Yesterday marked 18 years since I became a marriage celebrant. EIGHTEEN YEARS! Where on earth has the time gone?
Over those years, I've had the absolute privilege of standing beside so many beautiful couples as they made one of life's biggest promises to each other.
I've laughed, cried happy tears, heard some pretty funny love stories, witnessed the most beautiful moments and occasionally tried to keep a straight face when things didn't quite go to plan. Because that's real life, and that's what makes every wedding unique.
To every couple who has trusted me to tell your story, share your love and be part of such a special day - thank you. It genuinely means more than you know. Being invited into such a personal moment in your lives is something I will never take for granted.
To my family and friends, thank you for cheering me on, supporting me and putting up with all the wedding talk over the years. You know who you are, and I couldn't do it without you.
Eighteen years in, and I still get excited about meeting new couples, hearing how they fell in love and helping them create a ceremony that feels like them.
So, here's to the next 18 years of love stories, happy tears, belly laughs, big feelings and plenty more “I do's”!

No. Absolutely not.
If the thought of writing heartfelt vows makes you stare blankly at a screen for three hours before deciding that “I love you heaps” will probably do…
You're not alone.

I can help you with your vows, give you some prompts, or help you turn your thoughts into something that actually sounds like you.
The only rule? They need to sound like you, not a Pinterest quote.

If personal vows are just not your style, there are so many other options. Maybe use the traditional vows or a version of, or just say the legal wording, maybe over the ring exchange.

There are so many wonderful options to suit you both. Just let me know what you'd like to do and we can make it work. xx

The story of TWO proposals.

Back in March 2022, Cody had planned what he thought was the perfect moment. Benita is a passionate Melbourne Demons supporter, and when the team finally came north to play on the Gold Coast, he organised a weekend away around the game. His plan was to surprise her after the final siren by getting her onto the centre square at Metricon Stadium and proposing there.

There was just one small problem.

Halfway down the motorway, Cody realised the ring was still sitting at home.

As you can imagine, this discovery put a slight dampener on the weekend. While the Demons were out there doing exactly what Benita hoped and winning the game, Cody spent the entire weekend trying to hide the fact that he was internally spiralling.

Benita couldn't work out what was wrong. Her team was winning, they were away together, everything should have been great... but Cody was unusually quiet and looking more stressed than a coach in the final quarter.

Thankfully, Cody's workmates weren't about to let history repeat itself. When proposal attempt number two rolled around, they made him leave the ring at work so he physically couldn't forget it again, knowing they'd be heading straight from work to the next proposal location.

And fortunately for Cody, the second attempt went a whole lot better than the first.

This attempt was in the following October, during a long weekend away, Cody suggested they go for a walk after spending the morning at the beach. Now Benita's first reaction was a very reasonable question: "Why would we walk when we could be swimming?”

But thankfully Cody persisted. Eventually they found themselves sitting together on a bench overlooking the coast. The perfect moment. And that's where Cody asked Benita that most romantic question.

And then I got to marry them in this gorgeous afternoon light. What an honour.

These two were married by me in their backyard. Family and friends joined them for a afternoon of great food and w**e.

“How long will our ceremony be?”

Some couples want short, sweet and straight to the ch*****ne.
Others want stories, laughs, happy tears and all the feels.

Your ceremony should be long enough to tell your story and short enough that nobody starts wondering when canapés are happening.

I find that the sweet spot for the ceremony is around 20-25 minutes for a fully personalised ceremony. I always say to couples schedule at least 30-45 minutes. That way there is a buffer of time should you be running late, emotions get the hold of you or someone important is stuck in traffic.
At the end of the day it is completely up to you. It's something we will definitely chat about. xx
