We are in the process of moving out and I found this under the house!

About 10 years ago I decided to go to a marriage expo and spruik my wares. I got this made, printed a bunch of business cards, pictures in frames etc. Definitely not my scene, and I booked zero weddings. A great way to waste a day and about $400!

The good thing about this job though is that if you do a decent job in front of a bunch of wedding guests, you will keep getting work. So that’s been my business model for the last 10 years 😂 (plus intermittent social media posting). I officiate 30~ weddings per year, which as a weekend job, is perfect for me. So, if you or somebody you know is getting married, get in touch!

Also, if you want this poster, I will sign it and sell it to you for $401.

Drew (an engineer) and Anneke (a geologist) met through the ancient tradition of online dating. IMO there’s something kinda hot about an engineer marrying a geologist. One one hand, a man who knows how to design and build stuff and on the other, a woman who knows what raw materials are require

Apart from his engineering skillz, Anneke was drawn to Drew’s ability to connect and relate to everyone he meets. He also knows how to pick apart a week old rotisserie chook. Drew says that Anneke is on a first name basis with all the delivery drivers and couriers in her area, which in no way detracts from her overall kindness, thoughtfulness, and willingness to quote Mark from Peep Show.

I officiated their waterside wedding in October 2024. I also got to stick around for a drink with some mutual friends, which made me feel like I was on a yacht for a brief moment until I drove home in my 2011 Kia Optima.

I’ve been sitting on these pics since 2024, so my apologies to you both!!

Michael and Toki met at the Conservatorium. Michael plays cello, Toki plays piano. Each year they would enter the sonata prize, and finally won it when they started dating, about 2 years after they first met. It's like the reverse of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. I met Michael after one of his performances because I was fangirling all of the strings players.

A beautiful day out up in Maleny! Thanks for having me as your celebrant!

Cute dog pic also included.

(We were told to dress colourfully...)

Daniel and Georgia met on the windswept shores of Sandgate in July 2021. Three times they'd exchanged hellos and on the third time…it began. Daniel recognized Georgia as the girl he’d seen before, and Georgia thought Daniel was cute. On the way back from his walk, Daniel piped up with, “It’s a nice view you’ve got here”.
Georgia replied, “it is isn’t it, would you like to join?”

They sat, and talked, then walked, and shared tea on the Eagle’s Nest balcony. That long day was the beginning of the rest of their lives. Yes, both of them were obviously away from school the day that stranger danger was discussed.

I've never been to Tangalooma before (waiting for Mum to chime in here and correct me), so it was SUCH a punish to catch the ferry over for the day, sit on the beach, officiate a barefoot wedding, mooch around at the reception for a few hours, watch the dolphins, then arrive home after the kids had been put to bed...

Thanks for asking me to be your celebrant, it was an honour!

Kallangur royalty!

Bobbi-Jo & Glenn met as students at Kallangur SS then got together after a chance meeting on tinder decades later. (See, not always a cesspool)?

Glenn is the president of Pine Rivers Bears footy club. Bobbi is the president of ACL injuries sustained from playing at said footy club.

I first met Bobbi back in 2002, so I would have been mortally offended if she didn’t ask me to be their celebrant 😜.

Here’s to Kallangur and all those that love her and/or call her home! #4503

Even though I came a distant 3rd in the on-stage aesthetics at Tori & Dave’s backyard wedding, a podium is still a podium. 🥉

Dave and Tori broke the hearts of their respective grades when they got together at the end of high school. That was a while back, as Tori likes to remind us. They secretly got married in Paris last year, but thankfully for us non-Parisians, decided on a second wedding back in Brisbane in January this year.

I have known both Tori and Dave for a long time, so it was soooo fun writing and officiating their ceremony.

Here’s to high school romance. Gross but cute!

Swipe to the end to see a pic of young Dave at my own wedding back in 2009…

What happens in choir...

Dani & Blake met in Australian Voices choir. (Cuuuuute). Dani (soprano) was standing directly behind Blake (bass) and in one of Blake’s first rehearsals she turned around and looked at him and said “You’re really good” and he said “thank you”. (Think Han Solo “I know” vibes).

After becoming friends, they sort of dated without knowing they were dating… these activities ranged from going for regular sushi train dinners, gaming together while sitting on the same chair, or chatting for hours and hours in the car after choir rehearsal. Ya know, just normal platonic friend things.

Their friend group did their yearly tradition of going away together as a group to a big house at the coast. They requested a queen bed for themselves “because they were such good friends?!” Anyway, they’re married now.

It was a pleasure to officiate your platonic wedding!

Clare and Hayden are both better at violin than me. Which is FINE I GUESS... (Seriously they are both phenomenal). Met at the con, fell in love at a chamber music convention, and now moonlight for Ensemble Cherubim Camerata - Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra and Queensland Symphony Orchestra. They also enjoy doing the NYT crossword in bed on a Monday morning.

They got married late last year in a beautiful ceremony at Tamborine Mountain and I was lucky enough to be their celebrant.

Here's to you both! May your relationship match your pitch. (That was a little inside joke for the musicians out there). (And no the joke is not that they are relatives).

Doesn’t always feel like a job (actually it rarely does) 🙂

Out at Tangalooma for a wedding today. Forced to sit by the sea, watch the dolphins feed, and have a beer with some randoms. Currently waiting for the 7pm ferry home.

Before you get stuck in, ‘bright and colourful’ was the dress code. I got this approved by the bride…

Imma request that you all get married here.
