Croton, one of my favourite leaves to work with. Colourful, mesmerising, almost psychedelic. Comes in so many shapes, sizes and patterns, strong but malleable... my happiest tropical plant. I have managed to kill two plants in Sydney with just one night of frost. I have bought another two plants in Melbourne and I'm hanging on to them. Great for bouquets, flower crowns, shoes, gowns or shawls. Love them, love them love them.

What do you do with a quirky piece of wood that you see on the side of a road? You ask your husband to do an emergency stop, pick up the wood, take it home, then ask the husband to clean the bark and just add flowers.

The first Fleurs de Villes Melbourne exhibition is almost over (still on until Sunday 27th Feb) but my love for fresh flower wearables has been boosted by working on our Enchanted Goddess mannequin. I'm into shoes at the moment and these are one of the most comfortable to wear. Made with croton and silverleaf, which I love working with. The patterns of croton leaves are mesmerising and the silverleaf (Leucadendron argenteum) is velvety and malleable.

And she is wearing a butterfly ring, made of bougainvillea sepals and silver suede. The Enchanted Goddess is still displayed at the Melbourne Emporium, as part of the Fleurs de Villes exhibition. On until Sunday 27th February 2022.

More bits and pieces from our Fleurs de Villes exhibition. My woodland-themed shoes have been so much fun to make. Will keep posting throughout the week. Look out for Ollie the owl and Eric the echidna, tucked around the dress. And for the bufferfly ring.

Our first Fleurs de Villes exhibition!
A collaboration between Firefly Flowers and Thrive Flowers and Events . Thank you everyone for bringing the Woodland Goddess to life. Thank you Brenna for your advice and tips. And last, but not least, thank you Fleurs de Villes for selecting us for this project and for supporting Breast Cancer Research. Great cause, close to many of us.
If you are in Melbourne and have time for a stroll through the Emporium on Lonsdale St, our creation is on L1, as you come up the main escalator. Check all the animals, the owl, the echidna, some funky ants and butterflies. Hope to see you there sometime over the next 10 days.

Fresh flower necklace with hydrangea, echinops and dusty miller. My good friend, Bis, has kindly agreed to pose and reckons she could wear it for dinner.

And another one. I'm into headdress pieces at the moment. The lichen-covered branches that my lovely sister, Vio, saved for me, are some of nature's works of art. And the roses pop like bursts of light.

Always, always flowers! Have found an abandoned house plot at Boat Harbour Beach, where an overgrown pre-loved garden is still surviving. Seeing flower heads poking through the weeds and rubble, melted my heart. I couldn't help going back with a pair of secateurs (that I unashamedly always carry with me, just in case) and spiralled a bouquet to brighten our day.
Happy Christmas, everyone!
