Let me take you on a walk through my flower market run… 🌿✨
I check my list as I step through the roller doors, scanning the market floor, making a mental map of which growers I need to visit first
It’s early, 5am, but the energy here is always buzzing and the early florist gets the best blooms
Trolleys overflowing with blooms being wheeled past, the scent of fresh foliage in the air, a quiet hum of florists on their own missions
First stop: Jonima
I collect my order of some of the floatiest, most delicate cosmos bunches, bundled in brown paper to keep them safe
They’re almost weightless in my hands, petals fluttering with every step.
Next, I scoop up golden tree peonies from Daniel
Right now, they’re tightly closed, their sunset-streaked petals hidden inside.
Honestly? They look kind of ugly
But in 24 hours, they’ll unfurl into absolute showstoppers, soft and full, like watercolour paintings
As I pass East Coast Wildflowers, I snag some fiery orange kangaroo paw and banksias
The stand is always packed, so I wait in line, admiring the wild textures of pincusions, flannel flowers and wild grasses
I race over to the Steve, where I pick up bunches of buttery yellow garden roses
They’re fragrant, petals unfolding into a perfect swirl, the kind of flower that looks like it was plucked straight from an overgrown summer garden
Finally, I grab armfuls of chamomile daisies
Tiny white blooms with golden centers, fresh and playful, the perfect finishing touch to add a little movement and whimsy to the bouquet
As I bundle up all of the my blooms my arms are full and hands covered in pollen, I load up the van, already picturing how these flowers will come together
The sun starts to rise and it’s time to get some coffee before the long drive home☕️
Thanks for joining me 🥰
