What does the Asylum Seeker’s Centre do? Why did we raise money for them?
Through the course of the night, via live and silent auctions, as well as donations, our beautiful Bundanoon Community raised a total of $20,173.53 for the Asylum Seekers Centre to assist the plight of refugees caught in limbo while trying to navigate their path from trauma to hope. The Asylum Seekers Centre assists refugees by providing resources that they desperately need once arriving: education, medical needs, legal support, caseworkers, family support, food, and more.

And what a feast it was!!! We are still tallying but at the moment, we have raised over $18,000 for the Asylum Seekers Centre based in Redfern.
Bundanoon is incredible: in its compassion, its heart and its deep pockets. The expression ‘it takes a village’ is true. In this instance The Bundanoon Lions Club, The Bundanoon Garden Club, The Bundanoon Butcher, The Bundanoon Club, Bundanoon Botanicals, Axe Thai, Bundanoon Chinese Restaurant,The Bundanoon Rural Fire Brigade, Bundanoon Pharmacy, Bundanoon Loves Dogs, The Practise, Sherwood Engineering, Stormy Teacup Band, Osborne House, Bundanoon Community Association and soooo many volunteers! Everyone contributed to making this a feast, a fundraiser and a party to remember.
Thank you to all our donators who came from far and wide to support this event.
Thank you to the band ‘Javier and the Wave’ who came all the way from Orange, to play for free. Thank you to the magical voice of Cecelia Rochelli.
And enormous thank you to both Elijah Boul and Margaret Piper, our guest speakers. They gave us such rousing speeches where we gain insight into understanding the plight of refugees and asylum seekers and now the word ‘hope’ resonates with all.
