A big congratulations to our very own Zac Sharman, who had a cracker of a game representing SEJCA in the U12 Cawsey Shield on Sunday.

Zac scored an impressive 106 runs, bringing up his first century and helping SEJCA secure a win over Sutherland with a total of 5/315.

A fantastic achievement, Zac! 👏

🏏 Another player joins the 50 runs Club! 👏

This time it’s Arthur Clarke, who led from the front with the bat and captained the u13 Taipans to victory in their first game of the season!

A well-deserved milestone. Congratulations, Arthur! 💚❤️

🏏 U13 Taipans
A cracking win for the Taipans at Heffron in an absolute thriller! Captain Arthur played a brilliant knock, building a great partnership with Hugo and getting his first half century. A big shoutout to Lucas and Tiernan on their first taste of U13 cricket. Some great spin from Sam and tight bowling from Leo and Fred in the final overs helped the boys hold on for the win. What a way to start the season! ❤️
Batting: Arthur C 59*(45) , Hugo B 26(44)
Bowling: Kobi G 1/16(3) , Leo E 1/27(5)

🏏 U13 Copperheads (Sun)
A great start to the season for the Copperheads, taking a 30-run win over the Randwick Sixers Sunday team! After a slow start with the ball, the boys found their rhythm with some brilliant catches from Nash, Josh, George and Joe. Wickets were shared between Joe, Nash, Luca, Freddie, Josh and Spencer, with some particularly tight bowling from Freddie. Josh and Freddie impressed with the bat, while openers Nash and Luca got the boys off to a solid start. Player of the Match went to Josh M for a cracking all-round performance with his runs, catch and wicket! ❤️
Batting: Josh M 27(43) , Freddie H 22(39)
Bowling: Spencer ST 2/16(3),Freddie H 1/3 (4)

🏏 U15 Cobras
The Cobras started the season on a magnificent footing. Carrying just 9 players against an 11-man Summer Hill, we first ripped out 10 wickets for just 77 runs, before cruising past the total losing just the 1 wicket, with 13 overs remaining. No doubt sterner tests await us, but couldn’t be happier with the start. And even though we are talking about 13 and 14 year olds, including 6 SSMC debutants, they all still lined up for Neil when he showed up with lollies post-game! 🤣 ❤️
Batting: Thomas S 22(40) , Xavier B 18(40)
Bowling: Cooper G 4/4(4) , Xavier B 2/8(5)

🏏 U10 Huntsmen

An exciting first junior cricket game against an experienced Randwick! Early nerves cost some opportunities to take singles, but the boys settled in and fought back after the break. Dom impressed with the bat, Parker with the ball and Zac in the field. Ollie earned Player of the Match with two wickets in his first two balls! A narrow 16-run loss. 💚

Batting: Dom C 9(17), Zac C 8(17)
Bowling: Parker R 2/15(3), Oliver D 2/11(2)

🏏 U10 Redbacks vs U10 Rabbitohs

Our Redbacks and Rabbitohs went head-to-head in their first game of Junior Cricket! Both teams put in great efforts and were closely matched with the bat, but the Redbacks picked up the extra wickets to take a narrow 7-run win. Rabbitohs Player of the Match went to Bomber aka Joshman for a great effort with both bat and ball! A fantastic start for both teams, with plenty to build on. 💚

Redbacks
Batting: Leroi P 13(19), Matthew P 6(20)
Bowling: Leroi P 2/3(4), Gabriel B 1/14(3)

Rabbitohs
Batting: Josh S 7(15), Rory M 6(16)
Bowling: Josh S 2/10(3), Vinnie V 0/3(2)

🏏 U11 Whitetails

A tough start against a strong Randwick Heat side, going down by 84 runs. Wickets for Will, Leo, Raif, Flynn and Kit, catches from Kit and Cian, great keeping from Max and boundaries from Otis! Kit Matthews earned Player of the Match for his all-round effort. 💚

Batting: Kit M 14(15), Otis V 10(15)
Bowling: Will S 2/15(3), Kit M 1/7(3)

🏏 U11 Funnelwebs

What a start! A convincing 42-run win with strong batting, bowling and fielding across the team keeping the Funnelwebs in control throughout! 💚

Batting: Lucas B 20(15), Rex C 16(15)
Bowling: Tiarnan H 3/11(3), Rex C 3/8(2)

🏏 U11 Girls Black Widows

A brilliant first game! Fantastic bowling and fielding held Leichhardt Wanderers to 86, showing all that off-season training paid off! Batting nerves saw the girls fall just 12 runs short against a side together for three years! JJ earned Player of the Match for great keeping, a catch and brilliant bowling. Plenty to be proud of! 💚

Batting: Hannah T 8(17), Marie S 5(17)
Bowling: Marie S 2/14(4), Jennina M 0/3(2)

Today marks the opening round of the 2026/27 Metro Youth Championships and we’d like to wish all our 2025/26 SSMCJCC players selected for representative cricket the very best of luck!

For a club of our size we’re incredibly proud to have so many players competing at a higher level across four districts, in four age groups and two divisions. It’s a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work of the players and the dedication of our coaches, volunteers and wider club community.

We can’t wait to follow their seasons and see a few friendly rivalries when SSMC teammates find themselves on opposing sides!

Congratulations boys. Good luck for the season ahead! ❤️💚🏏

Frank Casey Trophy – Team of the Year 🏆

U11 Div 1 Copperheads

What a season from this group.

Premiership winners in both spring and summer, finishing the summer season undefeated and dropping just one game across spring. An incredible run of consistency and dominance.

These boys didn’t just win, they did it in style. Regularly posting scores over 200, including a huge 203-run win, with standout individual moments right across the season — half centuries, hat tricks, and even a 5-for.

More importantly, they did it as a team. A great group of boys who have a genuine love of cricket.

Nice work Copperheads 🐍

Hector Maarraoui Memorial Award – Member of the Year 🌟

This award recognises overall loyalty and contribution to the club, not just on the field, but the way a player represents the club, supports teammates, and contributes to the wider club environment.

This year we had an honourable list of nominees who represented these values. Well done Felix M, Kit M, Fred F, Ethan B, Eli C, Freddie K, Augie B and Ned V.

Greatest congratulations to our winner Eli C 👏

Eli approaches every game with enthusiasm and energy, setting a great tone for those around him and encourages his teammates along the way. He’s always eager to fill in where needed and put the team first, and over the years has stepped up across multiple teams and age groups within the club. Eli represents our club with pride at a rep level and has consistently contributed off the field at many of our community cricketing events and fundraisers. A really well-deserved recognition.

We thank the Maarraoui family for their ongoing support to the club and appearances at Presentation Day. ❤️ 💚
