In preparation for the release of our 2027 season calendar we are delighted to announce we now are a proud partner of Act Belong Commit, a world-first mental health promotion campaign that encourages people to take simple steps to maintain and improve their mental wellbeing.

The campaign helps strengthen resilience, build social connections and promote positive mental health across the community. Its message is based on three simple actions:

Act: Keep mentally, physically and socially active.

Belong: Create and maintain social connections, join groups and take part in community life.

Commit: Take up a cause, volunteer, commit to something that brings meaning and purpose to your life.

Getting involved in local activities, community groups, volunteering and events can have a positive impact on mental wellbeing. We value our volunteers, the backbone of keeping our theatre company the wonderful community group it is, and encourage anyone interested in participating as an actor, director, backstage crew, musician, front of house volunteer, committee member or any part of our team to become a member and get involved! We would love to have you onboard 🎭

Announcing our very talented cast for Season Five Speaking in Tongues directed by Brendan Ellis.

Nine lives weave together in ways known and unknown in Andrew Bovell's piercing drama, Speaking in Tongues. Leon is married to Sonja, Jane is married to Pete. By chance, each spouse meets the other's one night and wind up in motel rooms.
A lonely man, Neil, pines for the love of his life, Sarah, who moved on decades ago. A woman, Valerie, goes missing and her stiletto was last seen in Nick's car. Love, marriage, infidelity and betrayal are all tackled in this tense, electrifying play about the relationship between lovers, strangers, and the infinite ways people may wound one another.

Our last review for Captain Moonlite & then it’s done ☺️

“…this is a popular musical, a crowd pleaser, with comic turns and catchy songs, splendidly accompanied by the band, and a main character whose extravagance is of the essence.”

Thank you Neale for squeezing us in on closing night. We appreciate your words!

I am a shameless old folkie, and to walk into the auditorium at Melville Theatre and see and hear a full folk band playing - fiddle, accordion, flute, keyboards, percussion and double-bass - was a real pleasure. The band remain on stage throughout the performance, providing a joyful backing to the a...

A parting thought from the Captain Moonlite team 😊

We were truly honoured to have our writer & Captain Moonlite creator Jye Bryant attend closing night last week.

From all the cast & crew, thankyou Jye for supporting us and making the time to be there. It was very memorable & a wonderful way to finish the run.

As we say goodbye to Andrew George Scott and his remarkable story, we would like to thank everyone who was involved in bringing this original production to the stage.

We hope as audience you enjoyed the history, music and drama that made the man behind the Captain Moonlite legend and got a deeper look at what we know of him today.

Thankyou as always to MTC front of house, our friends, family and all those who supported us in the journey.

“I was impressed with the production’s achievements of the seamless transition between locations, particularly from the confinement of the jail cell to the formality of the courtroom then to intimacy of the boarding lodge room”

Thank you to What’s The Show for our review!
