Passementrie: Imagine the stories these garments could tell from 165 years ago. This week I had the most wonderful peak at some of the Passementrie that is included on the fashion collection items at the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections ( ). To be able to see these examples so closely, gives me a unique insight into Australian examples of Passementerie and how they were made . No longer is it just fringe or a button…but a series of patterns of weaving, lengths, colours, tensions, numbers and application techniques to be decoded. A puzzle and a story all in one-my idea of bliss.

This research work comes in preparation for my Mason Family Trust Fellowship trip to the UK and France in September. I will be researching historical examples alongside learning the hands on traditional techniques from the last remaining handful of Passementerie makers.

It's been forever! Hello long lost friends of Facebook! I don't really know where to start! We have all had a big few years haven't we?! I hope you are all fairing ok!

I know a lot of you first joined me on here when I was making linen clothing. Last year I decided to close down this arm of Windlewood and begin making linen flowers. There were many reasons for this shift, one of the big ones being that I wanted to make something that could make a difference. Something that was more than just an object. This week, after a year in development, I will launch my Flower Boxes. A fusion of a linen floral gift and greeting card all in one box that can be sent directly to your loved ones. They can be personalised with your own greeting and longer message for any occasion. (Birthdays, Weddings, Get well soon wishes... the list is endless!)

That's my biggest update but there have been other things happening behind the scenes... Mostly centered around my next adventure... A travelling studio! I am currently fitting out a campervan and will be on the road hopefully early next year making linen flowers as I go.

↟Anyone relate? Trying to fit an ever growing “to do” list into each day is like trying to fit into those jeans that have shrunk in the wash and need an army tactical training course to get into... commando roll and all? ↟ I must confess it’s been so lovely to have had a taste of actual work/life balance this past week and a to do list that was actually do-able!... forced that way by some fairly epic jet lag! Let me know your tips and tricks below for working towards keeping this balanced glorious commando roll going!

↟ This sewing machine greeted me on my first day in the Faroe Islands like a familiar face saying hello, dear friend. ↟ The rain was pelting down outside, the kettle was on and the jigsaw was being pieced together. I imagine, like the kitchen table, the roof beams and the spinning wheels of that house, that this machine could tell a million stories of its abundant past. If only.

↟ I’m currently in amongst the Fjords of Norway and it’s blooming beautiful here. ↟ If you swipe across you’ll see where we are calling home for this week. It has been so lovely to slow down the pace a little and just be amongst lovely company, belly laughs, good food and a beautiful setting whilst taking the time to actually take it all in.

↟ Untouched and unfathomable ↟ What a place! I’ve been trying to find words to explain it, but I’m completely speechless! (Or typeless!) I don’t even think the photos come close to “telling a thousand words” in this country! Being a tiny dot amongst the sheer scale of these surroundings is incredibly humbling.

↟ A little nook from a traditional Faroe island farmhouse ↟ It was blowing an absolute gale and pouring sideways rain on the approached up to this house. You can imagine the sight of steam billowing from cups, a jigsaw puzzle at the kitchen table and chats with the owner was an absolute dream! Such a history filled haven of warmth (both in hospitality and temperature!) Waterfalls, cliffs, mountains and grass roofed villages overflowed the rest of today’s exploring which I’ve popped in my insta stories if you fancy a squizz.
