Catch Ezz on Phoenix FM Bendigo every Tuesday from 8pm. For airplay, interviews or event booking enquiries: [email protected] Heretic Frequency is here for one reason: to hype up Aussie heavy music and give the underground the spotlight it deserves. Every Tuesday night from 8pm on Phoenix FM Bendigo, I’m blasting nothing but Aussie heavy - the independent, the up-and-coming, the lesser-kn
own legends who should already be on your playlist. Heretic Frequency is wall-to-wall local talent from all across this wide-ass country. The show can be streamed live from the Phoenix FM website, or played back via my podcast. I've always known there are some seriously underrated local bands in this country - my own band has shared stages in dive bars with incredible musicians who should be playing to bigger crowds. But when I kicked this show off, it really hit me just how stacked our local scene really was. Every week I had to curate a new playlist, and band after band kept blowing me away. As word spread, a community started to build around Heretic Frequency. Bands were keen, listeners were keen, and I thought - screw it, why stop at radio? So I took the booking know-how I’d picked up running gigs for my own band and threw the first HF show, Break Stuff with Rise From Ashes and Awaking Tyler. Over 100 maniacs turned up and tore the joint apart, and from there it was on for young and old. Fast-forward and Heretic Frequency now books gigs all over Victoria - Bendigo, Melbourne, Geelong, with Ballarat lined up next — and in 2025 we threw the first ever HF festival, TIC’d OFF (headlined by Orpheus Omega) packing The Golden Vine with bands from VIC, NSW, and beyond. At the end of the day, Heretic Frequency is for the heavy music community. Whether you’re tuning into the show, catching a gig, or jumping in the pit, you’re part of it. This isn’t just a radio show or an events brand. It’s about proving that the so-called ‘small’ shows aren’t small at all - They’re the lifeblood of heavy music, delivering tracks that deserve to be heard alongside the industry’s best, and gigs that remind you why the grassroots scene is the beating heart of it all.
