Heretic Frequency

Heretic Frequency On air and on stage, Heretic Frequency is your gateway to the best in Australia's heavy music underground. Let's see if Heretic Frequency can wrangle the stage.

Catch Ezz on Phoenix FM Bendigo every Tuesday from 8pm. For airplay, interviews or event booking enquiries: [email protected] Heretic Frequency is here for one reason: to hype up Aussie heavy music and give the underground the spotlight it deserves. Every Tuesday night from 8pm on Phoenix FM Bendigo, I’m blasting nothing but Aussie heavy - the independent, the up-and-coming, the lesser-kn

own legends who should already be on your playlist. Heretic Frequency is wall-to-wall local talent from all across this wide-ass country. The show can be streamed live from the Phoenix FM website, or played back via my podcast. I've always known there are some seriously underrated local bands in this country - my own band has shared stages in dive bars with incredible musicians who should be playing to bigger crowds. But when I kicked this show off, it really hit me just how stacked our local scene really was. Every week I had to curate a new playlist, and band after band kept blowing me away. As word spread, a community started to build around Heretic Frequency. Bands were keen, listeners were keen, and I thought - screw it, why stop at radio? So I took the booking know-how I’d picked up running gigs for my own band and threw the first HF show, Break Stuff with Rise From Ashes and Awaking Tyler. Over 100 maniacs turned up and tore the joint apart, and from there it was on for young and old. Fast-forward and Heretic Frequency now books gigs all over Victoria - Bendigo, Melbourne, Geelong, with Ballarat lined up next — and in 2025 we threw the first ever HF festival, TIC’d OFF (headlined by Orpheus Omega) packing The Golden Vine with bands from VIC, NSW, and beyond. At the end of the day, Heretic Frequency is for the heavy music community. Whether you’re tuning into the show, catching a gig, or jumping in the pit, you’re part of it. This isn’t just a radio show or an events brand. It’s about proving that the so-called ‘small’ shows aren’t small at all - They’re the lifeblood of heavy music, delivering tracks that deserve to be heard alongside the industry’s best, and gigs that remind you why the grassroots scene is the beating heart of it all.

𝐓I𝐂'𝐝 𝐎F𝐅 𝐀r𝐭i𝐬t S𝐩o𝐭l𝐢g𝐡t - Tranquility Unknown

Tasmanian deathcore destroyers Tranquility Unknown are making the trip across the Bass Strait for TIC’d OFF ... and if you caught them at Let’s Chat Park earlier this year with Arkangel, you already know exactly how dangerous this set is gonna be.

Fierce delivery, absolute precision and some of the tightest live performance chops you’ll find on the local circuit, Tranquility Unknown don’t just play heavy music, they weaponise it.

Emerging from Tasmania’s North-West coast, the five-piece fuse metalcore and deathcore into a crushing wall of sound inspired by bands like Fit for an Autopsy, Polaris and Whitechapel.

Their debut album 𝐁R𝐎K𝐄N | S𝐈L𝐄N𝐓 dives deep into grief, pain and rebirth - packed with brutal riffs, haunting melodies and relentless vocals.

This band brings intensity in every sense of the word, and when they hit the stage for TIC'd OFF '26, things are gonna get violent in the best possible way.

T𝐈C'd O𝐅F A𝐑T𝐈S𝐓 𝐒P𝐎T𝐋I𝐆H𝐓 - SOULSLEEP

Hailing from the Albury/Wodonga region, Soulsleep are one of Australia’s most exciting up-and-coming alternative acts - and trust me, these legends know how to bring the energy.

Blending massive riffs, huge singalong choruses, catchy melodies, rap-influenced vocals and splashes of EDM, Soulsleep aren’t interested in staying inside the lines. Their sound pulls from all over the place and somehow lands exactly where it needs to - hard-hitting, emotional and impossible not to move to.

After taking out the Victorian heat of the Good Things Festival competition and earning a spot on the Melbourne lineup, the band have continued to build serious momentum, recently sharing the stage with UK heavy hitters Caskets.

Tracks like N𝐞v𝐞r and their latest single S𝐮p𝐞r𝐬o𝐧i𝐜 prove exactly why people are paying attention. Big hooks, big vibes, big “scream the chorus with your mates” energy.

If you need a moment at TIC'd OFF '26 to jump around, throw your arms in the air and lose your voice, Soulsleep have got you covered.
