There are a couple of hidden gems in Heathcote and the General Trader is very high on that list and will definitely not disappoint. In a time of online shopping, algorithms and an onslaught of adds there is no better excuse to reconnect with retailers who actually care. Adam has not only curated a thoughtful selection of objects and art but his warmth and hospitality creates a customer experience we all long. Of course I am totally biased as just about everything Adam curates is stunning and well within my colour pallet and when its so thoughtfully chose and styled why wouldn’t you want to spend hours perusing.

Thanks Adam and Country Style it was a pleasure as always!

As the year comes to a close I would like to say Merry Christmas to you all and leave you with one of my favourite portraits of the year.

I had the pleasure of photographic this Australian legend for Home Beautiful and to say I was slightly nervous would be an understatement. For many years our immigrant family watched as Catriona graced our screens as the host of Getaway showcasing just about every location imaginable.

Walking in to her lovingly restored bluestone home the warmth and deep sense of story was clear to see and so was Catriona sitting at her kitchen bench with rollers in her hair and a pristine white dressing gown. I’m not often lost for words but they were suddenly very hard to come by, Luckily Catriona has a million incredible stories and her welcoming energy immediately put me at ease.

Well what better way to break the ice than to cram 5 people into an ensuite and make the first photograph completely unrelated to Christmas! With rollers in her hair, dressing gown on and surrounded by beautiful florals the first frame disappeared and the rest is history as they say.

Thank you for being an incredible host, a great sport and just simply a lovely human, oh and James is pretty awesome too haha! I won’t be forgetting this day any time soon.

As always a massive thanks to everyone who helped pull this story together, it’s not possible without you all.

Before I’m another issue behind here is an overdue throw back and massive thank you to Kristen, Rhys and their very patient children for putting up with all the cameras and empty presents.

Featured in the December issue of Home Beautiful the families modern farmhouse played host to a country Christmas. The warm tones, timbers and stone is beautifully off set again the expansive skies and natural foliage both in and around the home. Even though I’m somewhat of a grinch this is a Christmas I could get on board with.

Thanks to everyone involved for pulling this one together, it was a pleasure as always.

I’m really excited to share feature number one of two in this month’s Country Style Magazine.

I had the pleasure of photographing Le Foyer for long time client and friend Paul Pitcher and his team a few months ago. When rumours started swirling of what was brewing behind the boarded up facade the excitement was palpable.

From the moment you arrive the ambiance embraces you, soft lighting, rich textures, and an atmosphere steeped in understated elegance, Le Foyer draws you in as soon as the doors open.

Downstairs is colour drenched in calm, muted greens. Brass details, soft curves, and layers of texture set the tone for the modern French inspired experience focus on beautiful food and fine wines.

Upstairs, Le Salon offers something a little more private. Deep burgundy and plum tones set the mood while the artwork hints at the luxury and seduction of the French and their cuisine.

A massive congratulations to Paul, Danielle, Mike and Kristy for bringing such a stunning project to life and giving Central Victoria another fantastic dining experience to enjoy.

Recently I had the pleasure of capturing Lisa and Neil’s lovely home in Harcourt. I have probably driven past their front gate 100’s of times and never knew what was hidden just out of sight.

Built in 1917, Lisa and Neil have opened up the interior allowing light to fill the carefully curated spaces within. Lisa’s eye for detail, use of bold colours and textures, adds the layers that make this house feel like a home you never want to leave. Oh and that’s before you get to the shiplapped barn that stands amongst the incredible gum trees only meters from the home. Think Chesterfield, fireplace, ci**rs, whisky and a good book…maybe some duck? Just kidding but seriously how cool are runner ducks!

Thanks for your lovely touches as always and for trusting me with another beautiful story.

Shout out to , Nicholas Watt, .smithmadden and all the writers and contributors.

P.S. on shelves now!

A few images from a recent shoot for Elan and Earth capturing their stunning new collection of handcrafted rugs. Meticulously made from 100% New Zealand wool the colour, texture and pattern options are almost endless. Wallnut, Bark and Pine were a few of my favourites, surprise surprise haha

Thanks to everyone involved in pulling the shoot together. It was a massive day and these rugs are definitely far from light.

So while I’m on a roll and before I’m another 4 months behind on posting here’s the latest cover of Country Style July 2025.

A massive thanks to Jill, Dan and of course Nellie for letting us take over this incredible home for the day. The enormous amount of work, care and attention to detail to honour this old homestead was clear to see, and it made for a fantastic day .

As always thank you to for adding the final touches and bringing your magic to our images, oh and also for putting up with me on another long day haha.

Shout out also to for her guidance and sympathetic approach to what must have been an overwhelming canvas to tackle. for your impeccable craftsmanship and Rachel White for your lovely words.

And finally to for trusting me with another cover. I’m not sure when it stops being a fluke but hopefully there are a few more before everyone realises I have no idea what I’m doing haha.

P.S. go grab a copy before they are gone!

A little Monday throwback to earlier this year, when I had the pleasure of meeting Liz and her family in the foothills of Falls Creek for Country Style.

After a long drive and little idea of what to expect, my nerves were running high, as usual, but as soon as the doors opened, I was greeted not only by Liz, but by the whole team of women who support .

It didn’t take long to realise that these women weren’t just incredible jewellers, smiths, creatives, and photographers, they also absolutely kicked arse in the mountains. Luckily, I was only there for an afternoon, feebly pretending to boss them around. I’m pretty sure they would’ve killed me if I’d tried to keep up with them on the slopes, trails, and peaks surrounding Mount Beauty.

Thanks to , for your lovely words and the whole team

Only about 11 weeks late... and apparently this is my first post of the year as well!

Apologies to all the incredible people I’ve worked with over the past 6 months, I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I’m terrible at posting and self-promo. Hopefully you all know how much I appreciate your trust and support.

So to kick off the year, a huge thanks to , , and for a brilliant day at capturing amazing produce, people, and Ella’s incredible food.
Wouldn’t you know it, we even managed to fluke another cover, but if we are being honest though it’s probably all down to the chicken.

Quote of the day? Ella asking if I’d like to photograph “an old goat under an old goat” for her portrait. Utter Gold.

Lets be honest, it should be borderline illegal not too sneak an old Land Rover into ever image where the opportunity presents. I am however acutely aware that I didn’t do a great job hiding my surprise when I found out not only did it start but it also moved under its own steam. Best of all you can’t even tell was two days or 38 degree weather!

Thanks again to the awesome team at for making us welcome, sharing your story and putting up with the early starts and late finishes. It was lovely meeting you all and look forward to visiting again, even if it’s just for a spin in the Landy haha!
