WHAT IS A HANDFASTING RITUAL?

An ancient Celtic tradition where the hands of a couple were tied together to signify being bound together for life. It's where we get the expression 'tying the knot'.

When these two sweethearts began chatting about a goth/nature themed wedding, I suggested adding a handfasting which they jumped at. In this photo, their hands had already been tied and after slipping them out, they are now quite literally 'tying the knot'.

Rituals like this can add a deeper, symbolic moment in a ceremony and I love them! It's yet another way to put your own stamp on your wedding day. Always meaningful, never cringey.

I'm always happy to make suggestions and of course, take on board any ideas you may have for your own unique ritual.

Thanks to Alli Campbell for capturing every beautiful moment, as she always does ❤️

These two sweethearts wanted something different for their wedding - not short and sweet with lots of laughs - that we hear so often. They wanted personal, authentic and deeply meaningful. They assembled an incredible team of vendors and included some very thoughtful touches, such as having a wedding artist to paint watercolours of their guests. They wanted less talking from me, balanced by more talking from them, as they spoke about what they loved about each other and their promises for the future.

Every person there was still engaged and listening. Nobody got bored or started scrolling. There are so many different ways to have a wedding. This is a reminder not to slavishly follow the latest online trends or do what all your friends are doing. Be brave. Be yourselves! ❤️

Many thanks to photography superstar, Caro for this beautiful memory

When autumn beckons 🍁 ........

This is where you'll most likely find me on a Saturday afternoon - enjoying the balmy weather, the changing leaves and soft light in a garden somewhere, telling stories about love ❤️

Last Saturday it was marrying J and E in the always stunning surrounds of the Gold Mines Hotel - truly a venue like no other and a firm favourite among local wedding vendors.

Thanks Carmen for this snap of me in action!

Simply beautiful set-up at Ravenswood Homestead yesterday when Laura and Andrew tied the knot. Natural beauty of the formal garden was enhanced by two enormous urns of flowers by in perfect autumn tones. Once the ceremony was over, they were moved to the Stables to be further enjoyed at the reception. That's what you call a win win!

CHAPEL WEDDING DREAMING? 💒

has it all, including beautiful light and a bell to ring out and let the world know you are married!

I love the quiet when I first arrive at a venue and breathing in the anticipation of what is about to follow.

Gorgeous florals from Babbington Park and thanks to for this pic

❤️ STONE WALLS, ANCIENT GUMS & GEESE! ❤️

Just a smattering of the delights found , Lyonville.

Last wedding of the year was pure joy with Abby and Pat at a favourite venue for elopements and micro weddings.

Check it out if you're looking for whimsy, romance and class, all found in one tiny chapel set in picture perfect surrounds.

Keep an eye out for more loveliness to come with images by (thanks for this one!) and film from

KATHY + ANDREW - A RECONNECTION LOVE STORY

Andrew and Kathy first dated 27 years ago. They parted and moved on with their lives, got married and had kids with other partners.

Serendipitously, they both found themselves single again at the same time all those years later, and a chance encounter brought them back together again.

On a very chilly spring morning, they got married in Bendigo's beautiful Rosiland Park, surrounded by their joyous band of young adult kids, their partners and two best friends.

There was so much love and excitement erupting in the park that day - a spontaneous singing of 'Chapel of Love' was a highlight - that will stay with me for a very long time. ❤️

Big love to you and your fabulous kids, Kathy and Andrew. Such a privilege to share this moment with you 😘😘

❤️ ALLI + ANDREW VOW RENEWAL ❤️

As celebrants, we get to do some very cool things! This time, it was a vow renewal ceremony for my beautiful celebrant friend, Alli and her ever so lovely guitar playing hubby, Andrew .

I told the story about how they met and fell in love over music - Andrew's band was looking for a singer and in stepped Alli! Love blossomed alongside learning harmonies, practising and performing together.

Thirty years later, they are still playing gigs, in love more than ever and relishing the life they have created, with family and music very much centre stage.

In front of their immediate family, they made new promises to each other. Their two gorgeous sons spoke about what they had learned about love and life by watching their parents, and then we all sheltered in the rotunda of Wombat Park Gardens to toast them with French champagne!

My heart was bursting with love and gratitude for being invited into such a very special moment of love, family and celebration. ❤️

Another beautiful friend was there to capture these memories - . Your photos are next level! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

EMILY + CODY ❤️

Two sweethearts, totally in love and surrounded by their families and friends at the Bush Pig Inn.

These two sweet souls brought their wedding forward so that a much-loved family member could attend - such a beautiful act of love in itself. These are the stories I adore!

And a side note, have a look at the Bush Pig Inn for a no BS venue among the ironbarks, with a laid back, Australian vibe. There's even a pool table if you need a break from the wedding festivities! 😉

Thanks to the guest who took this pic on my phone x
