A multi-faceted entertainment, dining and sporting centre, located adjacent to the beautiful Benalla Botanical Gardens - only 2 hours from Melbourne. Our Bistro is open every day for lunch and dinner.
12 – 2pm and 5.30 – 8pm

Light snacks, toasted sandwiches and cakes also available from the bar outside bistro hours.

Staff profile time!

Our young apprentice chef Damon has been a valued part of the team for the past 15 months, bringing enthusiasm, dedication, and a strong willingness to learn to all aspects of the kitchen. In his role, he supports the preparation and service of dishes while continuing to develop his skills and knowledge as a chef.

What he enjoys most about his job is working alongside a supportive team, which makes each day both rewarding and enjoyable. Outside of work, he leads an active lifestyle and enjoys Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, swimming, and spending time enjoying good food. He is also a coffee enthusiast and appreciates the energy it brings to busy days.

When he’s not in the kitchen, he enjoys playing guitar and listening to a wide range of music, including artists such as Frank Sinatra, Drake, and Kanye West. Colleagues would likely describe him as funny and easy to get along with, contributing positively to the workplace atmosphere.

For anyone considering an apprenticeship, his advice is simple: it is a great opportunity to learn and grow, but success comes from genuine commitment and effort. His positive attitude and eagerness to improve make him a promising member of the team.

Darren brings a lifetime of experience, quiet dedication and genuine warmth to the Benalla Bowling Club. Approachable by nature and deeply respected within the sport, he joins the club’s coaching team with an outstanding bowls background shaped from an early age, growing up around the game and living opposite a bowls club in his youth.

After beginning as a greenskeeper apprentice in Footscray and spending his working life in pest control before retirement, Darren has remained a committed and competitive bowler throughout the years. His achievements speak for themselves, including 10
Division 1 grand final wins, 8 state titles, and success across singles, pairs, triples and fours.

Off the green, Darren enjoys gardening and brings the same steady, grounded nature to club life that has made him such a valued addition to the BBC community. With a love of the game, a practical outlook, and advice that encourages new players to trust their coach and keep learning, Darren represents everything that is admired in lawn bowls: skill, experience, humility and a genuine passion for helping others enjoy the sport.
