After months of disruptions to our church and hall - new verandah, new kitchen, etc, - we are now fully back in business. The icing on the cake was our new sign, presented to us yesterday by local legend, Mick Frawley, as a gift to the society.
Mick has created a sign that was based on the original one which graced St Martins Church when it was opened in 1929 in Belgrave South. We were thrilled to see the new one in place, looking as if it had always been there!
Our beautiful little church has been hired out for weddings, funerals, photoshoots, book launches, musical events, and even a music video. If you'd like to use it for your special event, get in touch with us.
The photo shows Mick with members of the Southern Sherbrooke Historical Society (and Beans the dog). We are very grateful to Mick for this wonderful gift, and we also want to thank the redoubtable Annie Hills for making it happen (and taking the photo).
Mick, his father, and now his son have been responsible for so many signs around the hills for decades, including the iconic Blue Dandenongs sign at Upper Ferntree Gully. If you'd like a great trip down memory lane, hop on over to the Frawley Signs page. Link in comments.
