This is an open exhibition that welcomes artists of all ages, viewpoints and levels of experience to explore the theme in drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and mixed media. This diverse collection of work provokes awareness, dialogue, political activism, experimentation, thoughtfulness, playfulness, or deep contemplation.

A beautifully strange voice reminiscent of Vaudeville days gone past, Archer has been described variously as Australia's Woody Guthrie, an Unknown national treasure, and a walkin', talkin', singin', leakin' slowboat to China...

Blending his unique style of swagman crooner country blues with the timeless swing of big band jazz, Archer comes with songs of hope on 4 July.

Love the swingin' sounds of BIG Brass Bands? In 3 weeks' time, country blues crooner Archer will arrive on the Belco Arts stage, where he'll be accompanied by one of the top community brass bands in the region, Canberra Brass.

This group is a collection of musicians from all walks of life who are drawn to the band through their love of brass music. They enjoy entertaining the community and competing in national competitions with a range of musical styles, playing everything from raucously loud bangers, technically challenging epics, to beautiful delicate sacred music…and of course, traditional brass band marches.

As Archer says, "This whole project depends on the arc of each person in that band putting in a lot of hard work and showing incredible dedication to creativity: each one practicing by themselves, their individual dedication to their instrument, and then that community coming together. All these people coming together to do their thing, it’s probably happening less in our current society, so it’s beautiful to be a part of.”

Book your spot for a unique musical experience that will lift the spirts and soothe the soul.
