Little Folk at The Bay's first cabaret style concert for 2026 will be held on Friday 20th March with ‘Maggie’s Delight’ Celtic Australian Band, supported by Declan Kenny, and the Celtic Irish Dance Academy.

What a fantastic night of live music on Friday at The Bay Music Club - thank you to everyone who came along to support live music!

Our opening act for the evening was the excellent solo artist Paul Davies. Paul is a powerful finger picking guitarist who put down a solid driving groove. His set featured some classic blues songs like Me and the Devil and some folk songs such as Streets of London and Train Home.

The main act for the evening by Reminiscing (formerly known as Shut Down Turn Off). For those of us who were in Australia between 1975 and 1985, the Little River Band (LRB) were a big deal so it was wonderful to hear Reminiscing play the best songs from this legendary band. Lady, the opening song started out simply with piano and lead vocals and then with the second verse the harmonies joined in and the classic LRB sound was recreated beautifully. Night Owls followed, again immaculately played.

The hits kept on coming, reminding us that LRB are one of the great bands our nation has produced. The first set included Curiosity Killed the cat and Happy Anniversary. The second set kicked off with Shut Down Turn Off and Cool Change, followed by more well known songs superbly played. The crowd was delighted, singing along and many up dancing too. The band capped off the night with Long Way There and encored with Playing to Win.

A fantastic night of live music for our penultimate event at The Bay Music Club!

The Bayswater Bowling Club was rocking on Friday night as the Bay Music Club hosted the Fabfour at their August event. The fabulous night of love music kicked off with a solo set by the wonderful Bernard Carney.

Bernard is an excellent musician and lyricist and commenced his set with the classic ‘Cheek To Cheek’, then amused us with a saga of cold medication he wrote called ‘Broncio Dilated Blues.’ Demonstrating that anything can be a source of inspiration to a songwriter, he next played a song about one of his grandsons - ‘Afternoon Sleep’ and followed that with an instrumental version of the Beatles’ ‘Here, There and Everywhere’ showcasing his skill as a finger picker. More originals followed - A Suitcase Of Stars, Feather Foot Fairy - about a granddaughter, Dreams of Peace on Paper Wings, a moving song about a survivor of the atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima and finished with a drinking song called ‘Wine’, which all the audience sang along to. A most entertaining start to the evening!

Looking absolutely fabulous in silver suits and Beatle mop top haircuts, the Fabfour came out rocking with a trio of classics - I Saw Her Standing There, She Loves You, and Roll Over Beethoven. Then came Love Me Do, I Should Have Known Better, Please Please Me, a medley comprised of From Us To You, Daytripper and Ticket To Ride; Do You Want To Know A Secret, Help, Eight Days A Week, Can’t Buy Me Love, I Feel Fine, All My Loving and Money, They finished their first set with Hard Day’s Night.

Set two and a change of wardrobe to some satin Sergeant Pepper outfits for a set of mid period music starting with songs from the album ‘Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’, the title track followed by ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’, ‘Penny Lane’, Another wardrobe change to signify the mature later phase of the Beatles’ career and more classic songs such as ‘Something’, ‘All You Need Is Love’, ‘Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da’, ‘Drive My Car’, ‘Revolution’, ‘Back In The U.S.S.R.’, ‘Get Back’ and then a return to the early days with some dance floor fillers - ‘Rock and Roll Music’ ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ and finally ‘Twist And Shout’.

Stay tuned for details about our next event on 26 September!

Thanks to all who joined us on Friday night July 25, 2025. Outside the temperature was a chilly fourteen degrees, but inside the Bayswater Bowling Club function room it was smoking hot! The Bay Music Club Committee performed their monthly magic trick and transformed the stark decor into a starlit cabaret room ready for the musicians to add their sound and transport the audience to another time and place.

First up were Wayne Perry and Ian Simpson breathing new life into the songs of the late Gordon Lightfoot. The Canadian folk singer and songwriter left a catalogue of great songs, some of which have become classics. Wayne did a great job of the vocals and Ian added beautiful embellishment on the banjo and resonator guitar.

After a short break Wayne and Ian returned to play a set of John Denver songs, starting with Colorado Rocky Mountain High. More classics followed in quick succession including Sunshine and Country Roads. If you would like more of that, the guys have a special evening of John Denver songs with a 25 piece orchestra at the Koorliny Arts Centre in Kwinana on the 27th of September!

Next up was Sweet Escape playing the songs of Simon and Garfunkel. Jim and Steve started the set with two songs as a duo - The Boxer and the Hymn to Herbs Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. Then the rest of the band joined them for a rocking version of Mrs. Robinson. Paul Simon wrote many great songs and Sweet Escape performed several of them including Sounds Of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Waters (featuring Eleanor Barnabas on keyboards) and America. Then they moved on to some Paul Simon solo songs like 50 Ways To Lose Your Lover and Late In The Evening. The bass (Michael Ng) and drums (Richard Pooley) really cooked on these tunes which also featured some beautiful harmonies. Bridge Over troubled waters was requested as an encore to end the evening and was much appreciated.

Thanks to all the musicians involved for some top class entertainment.
