Before I became a marriage celebrant, I was a Sydney tour guide. Long before weddings, I was learning how to read a room, calm nervous people, manage surprises and keep everything flowing smoothly without anyone noticing. Honestly, it was the perfect training because weddings are never about perfection. They are about people, connection, emotion and creating a moment that feels joyful and effortless.

That is still my favourite part of every ceremony.

One of my favourite parts of every wedding is hearing how it all began… The proposal stories are always different, always personal, and always special in their own way.

At the conclusion of your ceremony, there is one final step before you are officially married… the signing of your marriage certificate.

It is a quiet moment, often just after the ceremony, where you and your partner sign your documents alongside your two witnesses. Your witnesses can be part of your bridal party or someone special you would like to honour on the day.

It is a simple but meaningful part of the process... a moment that makes everything official.

Sydney couples, please stop overlooking the most beautiful ceremony locations right in front of you. Some of my favourite weddings have not been in traditional venues at all.

They have been in family backyards, hidden harbour reserves, private gardens, waterfront parks and places that already meant something to the couple.

Sometimes the perfect venue is the one with meaning, not the one with the biggest price tag. Still searching for the perfect ceremony location? I may already know the perfect spot.
