This week is not only our last community lunch for 2025 but we are also saying farewell to Chef David. After 5 fun years David is moving on to an exciting new role at the Ballarat Special School. Whilst we will miss him, we wish him all the best in his new job. The Kitchen just won't be the same without him!

Please be aware there maybe be road works in December as the contractors start preparing for the Tuppen Drive upgrades.

So it is finally happening! 🙂After several years of lobbying the City of Ballarat we are pleased and excited to be getting a road upgrade.👍

The Tuppen Drive road works 🚧🚦🚜are great news but will see the road closures for up to 4 months. Access and parking 🚗 will be limited after December 1st so you may need to walk a little further to access the Hub.

We're back! Term 3 Community Lunches restart this Friday at the Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre.

Date: Every Friday during school terms
Time: 12:00pm to 1:00 pm
Cost: 18 per person (note price increase)
Meal: A main hot meal served with your choice of salads and hot vegetables, dessert with cream and sauce, and a selection of fresh fruit. Self serve tea and coffee is available.

By Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre. Come along and enjoy a 2 course meal for $18.

We are excited as school's back and our first Community Lunch for Term 3 is organised for August 8th. 🎉🎉
Please note unfortunately due to cost increases beyond our control, the lunch has increased to $18 per person. This is still fantastic value for a main meal plus your choice of 3 hot vegetables, 4 salads, a delicious dessert served with cream, fresh fruit platters and free tea and coffee!

By Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre. The Healthy Lunch Kitchen is bringing ‘Kids in the Kitchen' Cooking Classes to children aged 8 to 13 years in partnership with the Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre. Class will be held at Our Kitchen Social Cafe in Barkly Street Ballarat East.

While our lunches are taking a break until the 8th August why not try the meals at our sister program at Barkly Square. A great initiative to help people gain hospitality experience.

This week we have a special eggplant and five bean vegetarian meatball mini sub served on a bed of rocket and topped with double layers of mozzarella cheese and Napoli sauce. Looks like Tash is having fun in the kitchen while the boss is on holidays. 👍

Did you know our volunteers rescue food from local Coles and Aldi supermarkets on Mondays and Fridays. The food has to be eaten within a day or 2 and can't be sold but is perfectly good. We use the food in our community lunches and provide bread to anyone who drops into the Centre to collect it.

If you need bread and are passing drop in between 10am and 4pm on Mondays or 12pm and 4pm on Fridays.
